Dragon's Dogma 2 Hunt for the Jadeite Orb Quest Walkthrough

Find the Jadeite Orb

NOTE: Two NPCs will ask for the same item. This quest can be picked up either by talking to Offulve or Everard, it doesn't matter who you talk to first, but you need to talk to both of them so this quest can be marked as completed later on.

As you explore Checkpoint Rest Town, you will find an NPC with the name Everard. You will find him standing outside Celeste's Smithy and he immediately recognizes you as the Arisen. At first, he will ask you if you have encountered a man named Offulve and will ask if you have seen a Jadeite Orb. He candidly expresses that locating the treasure is far more important than the man. He promises that you will be rewarded handsomely for your help.

To progress this quest, look for Ibrahim's Scrap Store. This store is located behind Everard's location behind a thick bush. It's a little difficult to spot but keep going in this direction until you see the store neatly tucked in this small section of the town. Ibrahim is a resourceful man who deals with scraps and treasures. He can even forge items upon request and is in possession of a Jadeite Orb which he sells for 7,500 G. Purchase the Jadeite Orb from him and talk to Everard or Offulve, depending on who you want to give the Jadeite Orb to.

Outcome 1: Give a genuine Jadeite Orb to Offulve and Everard

After purchasing the genuine Jadeite Orb from Ibrahim's Scrap Store, you need to progress A Game of Wits by finding the Sphinx's first location at the Mountain Shrine. During The Riddle of Conviction, the Sphinx can duplicate ANY item for you. We recommend giving her the Jadeite Orb so you can get 2 and give each to Offulve and Everard.

To start A Game of Wits, you first need to locate the Sphinx. Ideally, you will travel from Checkpoint Rest Town, found on the western side of the map. Then, follow the outlined path in the image below. You will travel to the Northern area and pass through the Ancient Battleground, an open area below the first entry point, Worldsend Cavern. A large portion of this area is a castle rubble that will lead to the entrance of the Worldsend Cavern. From there, follow the newly revealed path that will take you to the Shrine Corridor. You will find the entrance to the Mountain Shrine directly on top by the other side using the stairs. The legendary Sphinx is waiting for you at the top.

After receiving the Jadeite Orb from the Sphinx, you can return to Checkpoint Rest Town and give Everard and Offulve their genuine treasures. Everard will verify the authenticity of the item and take it to Ibrahim. Wait for him to come back and then receive your rewards from him. Then, look for Offulve near the Oxcart Station in front of The Sword & Staff Inn, then give him the genuine Jadeite Orb. Each of them will give you their rewards and doing this will mark the quest Hunt for the Jadeite Orb as completed.

Outcome 2: Deliver the Jadeite Orb to Everard

NOTE: Delivering the item to Everard will not complete the quest, so you still need to speak with Offulve and decide if you will be honest with him, or give him a forgery.  This quest has multiple outcomes and this walkthrough will guide players to complete the quest by giving Everard the genuine Jadeite Orb.

You will find Everard in the same spot where you first found him. Before you learn of his promised reward, Everard wants to verify the authenticity of the Jadeite Orb. He said that he trusts Ibrahim's eye most of all and wants to visit him. (If you have followed this walkthrough, simply return to where you got the item from).

As Ibrahim examines the Jadeite Orb that he just sold to you, Everard takes his leave and asks you to await his return. He will return after a minute and Everard will be pleased to know that you have given him the genuine article. This quest will not be marked as completed immediately because there is another man who asks for the same item.

Offulve is the other NPC looking for the Jadeite Orb and can be found outside The Sword and Staff Inn where the other people are gathered. You will get another objective here to provide a second Jadeite Orb for Offulve. During our playthrough, we decided to not give him a forgery and instead, be honest with him. Talk to him again and you will have 3 options to respond:

  • Aye (Give the genuine article)
  • Not as yet.
  • 'Twas nowhere to be found.

a3 hunt for the jadeite orb dragons dogma 2 wiki guide

Choosing the 3rd option will prompt Offulve to leave town and will mark the quest Hunt for the Jadeite Orb as completed and you will not receive any additional rewards from Offulve.

Outcome 3: Deliver the Jadeite Orb to Offulve

NOTE: This quest has multiple outcomes and this walkthrough will guide players to complete the quest by giving Offulve the Jadeite Orb.

Giving the Imitation Jadeite Orb to Offulve will give you 1000 XP, an Elite Camping Kit, and 3,000 G. It seems that he was happy to take the Jadeite Orb immediately without verifying it. If you return to the Checkpoint Rest Town after completing the quest and gave Offulve a forgery, you can find him wandering the town. He will tell you that the Jadeite Orb you gave him turned out to be a forgery. He does not blame you for only finding a forgery but promises revenge if you deceived him on purpose.

The walkthrough and rewards for giving the genuine Jadeite Orb to Offulve is a work in progress. If the details are available, please feel free to add them here.

Outcome 4: Give Everard a fake Jadeite Orb

The Walkthrough for this outcome is a work in progress. If the details are available, please feel free to add them here.

NOTE: This quest has multiple outcomes and this walkthrough will guide players to complete the quest by giving Everard the Imitation Jadeite Orb

You can get the Imitation Jadeite Orb from Ibrahim by asking him to forge it, and then hand it over to Everard. If you do so, he will verify the authenticity of the item by again, going to Ibrahim. Everard will leave the store to do something while Ibrahim checks it, and you can bribe Ibrahim for a total of 12,000 G to lie for you. Alternatively, if you don't bribe Ibrahim fully, Everard will call the guards on you and you'll be forced to fight them off and potentially kill other NPCs who can give you quests. NOTE: You can also try fleeing the town before Everard returns but we're not sure what are the implications of this. He may call the guards on you the next time he sees you so be careful!

Okay, you can wear the Marchers armor set to not be attacked in the Vernworth Gaol and question a prisoner.

The Arisen will have to pay 500 gold to get him to talk, and all he says is that he'd go to Ibrahim's Scrap Store to see about information on the Orb.

I don't understand why I don't just tell them that I couldn't find it and not waste the time on this quest.

What is the point of spending the gold to get a camping kit, a ring, and a decent, but not large sum of gold.

I really don't get why I'd copy it and waste the Sphinx reward.

The ring and camping kit are NOT unique, and gold and EXP are easy to get.

I've been holding on to this in case something comes to light, but there doesn't seem to be any reason anyone has found.

I'm ready to just tell both of them, "I couldn't find it, sod off!"

Strange interaction , i bring Everard to Offulve , and all guard attack him and it's said Everard kill Offulve

A pawn has led me to the Palace in Vernworth when the quest popped in as the main quest after completing another quest.

It makes me wonder if there's more to this, or if it's a bug.

            • Anonymous

This quest is...kind of stupid. Everard uses Ibrahim to verify the jewel isn't a fake...but the genuine article is quite literally sitting on Ibrahim's storefront, out in the open, just around the corner. If Everard is familiar with Ibrahim's services, why would he not have already checked with him and gotten the orb? It's just...dumb. So, so dumb.

              • Anonymous

Pretty clear give real one to Everard. Fake one to Offulve. Keep your sphinx dup for something worth while.

                • Anonymous

Giving Offulve the genuine nets you an Elite Camping Kit and some gold, while giving the fake to Everard and bribing Ibrahim (12000 G total) rewards you with 12000 G and a Ring of Skulduggery.

i did a bit of an oopsie and ran away from Everard after giving him the forgery, this caused him to attack me and botched that whole side of the quest. Can't even load a save anymore. I always seem to goof the delivery missions in a way that results in me losing money instead of gaining it lol

                    • Anonymous

Offulve was killed almost immediately cause Everard saw him as soon as i finished the dialog. resurrecting him does not allow you to give him the orb, he simply disappeared for me after an inn rest, locking me out of that half of the quest. it is still completable by giving Everard the orb, or a forgery if you bribe the guy he gets to appraise it
