Dragon's Dogma 2 The Sotted Sage Quest Walkthrough

Give Lamond what he seeks

Lamond is known as a frequent guest of the Geyser Hamlet. He initiates a conversation as you approach the hot spring and hints that he's in need of more Newt Liqueur. If you have the item with you, you can give him 1 immediately, or choose the "Accept" dialogue option to start the quest. Each time you give him a Newt Liqueur, he becomes more candid with you. For the first instance, he will give you a Rotten Soft-Boiled Egg.

Bring Lamond more Newt Liqueur

NOTE: For non-beastrens or humans, you need to equip the Beastren Mask so you can freely move at the tavern. You can buy it from Ibrahim the forger at the Checkpoint Rest Town.

You can get Newt Liqueur from Higgs of Higgs's Tavern Stand in Bakbattahl. As a Beastren, you can freely enter the tavern, otherwise, you need to acquire the Beastren Mask, or buy it from Ibrahim at the Checkpoint Rest Town. Equip the mask and travel to Bakbattahl and locate Higgs's Tavern Stand. Outside the tavern, you will find some satchels on the other side of the fence. Pick up the satchels and carry it to the other side of the fence and then Higgs will invite you in.

You can buy Newt Liqueur for 5000 G from Higgs, and once you have it, return to Lamond at Geyser Hamlet. After 3 instances of giving these to Lamond, he will give you the Vocation: Warfarer. Then, talk to him again (you don't need to give him more Newt Liqueur) he will give you the Grandmaster's Path, a tome that lets you learn Rearmament. This final conversation with Lamond will mark The Sotted Sage as completed.

    • Here are other ways of getting Newt Liqueur that are not mentioned that I know of so far in this half-assed wiki page:

      1. Combine Fruit Wine and Saurian Tail to make Newt Liqueur
1a.You can get Fruit Wine from Ibrahim in Checkpoint Rest Town and by winning the fight with the guards that bully you when going through the most bottom street of Bakbattahl the first time.
      2. Windwalker's Home (Gautstafr's Home) - On their table
      3. An NPC named Earland will wait for you on the corner of the road going north, near the steps to the Flamebearer Palace Road, and will sell you 1 Newt Liqueur for 2000G.

They suck at explaining things. If you are beastren (if you’re not beastren, equip the beastren mask) carry the sack of grains on the ground which is located outside of the Higgs tavern next to the wooden gates and carry it inside the gates next to it( a bunch of hays and a pic forklift) and drop/release it on the ground, a dude will bring you in the shop up stairs and that’s whom you buy the Newt Liqueur from.

explaination sucks. If you are beastren(if you're not, EQUIP the beastren mask) and pick up the sack of grains on the ground outside of higgs tavern next to the wooden gate and carry it inside the gate which is next to it(hays and pitchfork) and release or drop it on the ground. A dude will bring you upstairs and he is whom you buy the New Liqueur from.

Wayfarer is still obtainable in end-game. Start the evacuation of the volcano isle camp first and escort the blacksmith first then when you get back to the camp the knight will ask you to convince lamond to evacuated. It doesn't matter if you convince him or not you obtain wayfarer after trying anyway.

I don't see this quest marked on the interactive map. Nor does it have a working link to the map from this page.

I thought the quest was bugged because I'd already given him the thing he asked for and the quest log didn't change. Nope, turns out it's just really badly explained.

this game has the worst quest designs ever. they just want you to run around a barren map three times back and forth with some goblins along the way. AAA ladies and gents
