Romance in Dragon's Dogma 2 is a feature in the game that allows players to make special interactions with specific NPCs. Similar to its predecessor Dragon's Dogma, some characters can be romanced and Capcom has given players the option of whom they wish to romance in the game. Romancing characters will allow players to learn more about what the specific character likes, where they live, and other information, that can be found in the game logbook. These characters can be found entering certain locations or starting certain quests.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Romance and Affinity Guide

Dragon's Dogma 2 all Romanceable Characters

There are two primary NPCs that players can romance, though it is possible to romance almost any NPC in Dragon's Dogma 2. Those 2 characters are Ulrika and Wilhelmina, they have a side story and side quests for you to complete whereas the NPCs do not have a side quest or a side story.

Ulrika can be found in Harve Village in Melve early on in the game. Her questline starts with the sidequest Readvent of Calamity, followed by Trouble on the Cape, and ends with Home Is Where the Hearth Is. Completing the following quests will allow players to romance Ulrika.

Wilhelmina can be found in the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in Vernworth later in the game. Her questline starts with the sidequest Every Rose Has Its Thorn, which can be unlocked after completing Feast of Deception. Completing the following quest will allow players to romance Wilhelmina.

The Rose Chateau Bordelrie in Dragon's Dogma 2

The Rose Chateau Bordelrie can be entered by acquiring the Myrmecoleon Card, this can be done during The Stolen Throne quest from Wilhelmina. You can pay 20,000 G for each visit which is only once per night, and by different courtesans each night, to receive a service only accessible to those who carry the Myrmecoleon Card. There is a premium card that you can acquire by requesting the same courtesan three times and paying 48,000 G, the doorman will then give you the premium card upon payment and you will have access to the third floor of the brothel which will give you additional benefits.

Other than encountering a romance scene, you will also gain several buffs such as the following.

  • Strength Boost: Allows you to deal significantly more damage to enemies.
  • Defense Boost: Reduces the amount of damage you receive against enemies.
  • Recovery Boost: You lose smaller amounts in your loss gauge which will lessen the reduction to your maximum health.
  • Stamina Boost: Your stamina will decrease much slower. This boost is only available with the premium card.
  • Resilience Boost: You will be less likely to be inflicted with Debilitations and will shorten the duration of the debilitation when sustained. This boost is only available with the premium card.

Can I Romance My Pawn in Dragon's Dogma 2?

While you can romance most of the NPCs and 2 major NPCs that have their own storyline and side quests, it is unfortunate that you are not able to romance any of your pawns. The role of pawns is to only assist you as the Arisen to complete your journey. Although, you can raise your pawn's affinity.

Pawn Affinity in Dragon's Dogma 2

You can raise your affinity with your main pawn, and you will find that they will behave differently around you. Such as having new idle poses, and have more lines that have more affection towards you as well as blushing. An affinity level of 620 will lead your main pawn to "fall in love" with you and be able to deliver special dialogue to the Arisen. However, this is only available after reaching the true ending of the game.

These quests are time-limited so you will need to make sure to properly make the right choices and complete the quest within the time limit given to be able to romance the character.

What is Affinity in Dragon's Dogma 2

Affinity is not tied to the questline but gifting gifts can certainly help you increase your affinity with these characters. Knowing what types of items they like will help you know what items to bring them. You may look at our NPC page to look at the specific characters' interest in what types of items they like as well as looking at the NPC logbook in the game to learn more about their character.

Affinity can be increased by giving the characters gifts. Completing their respective quests does not tie in with gift-giving giving even though successfully completing the quest will enable you to romance the character, gift-giving can certainly increase their affinity as well as the chances to successfully romance them. Simply interacting with them and clicking on the give gift option will lead you into your inventory to pick out the gift you wish to give to the character you wish to romance.

How to check NPC information in Dragon's Dogma 2

There is a logbook in the game that you can open to check information on the NPC you wish to romance. It will give you information such as name, race, residence, and likes. Knowing and understanding their likes will help you with increasing their affinity in what type of gift to give them.

How to Raise My Pawns Affinity in Dragon's Dogma 2?

The following actions will help you increase your affinity with your main pawns:

  • Taking to your Pawn: +2 Affinity
  • High-five your Pawn: +5 Affinity
  • Taking your Pawn to the Hot Spring: +10 Affinity
  • Picking your Pawn to be your beloved during the Sphinx Quest: +20 Affinity

Ulrika Romance Guide

To romance Ulrika, you will need to start the questline with Readvent of Calamity, followed by the quest Trouble on the Cape, and end it with Home Is Where the Hearth Is. Upon completing Trouble on the Cape, you will be able to start giving gifts to Ulrika to increase your affinity with her, make sure to give her adorable items or beautiful items. If you have a home in Vernworth, it will allow Ulrika to give you gifts to display or put at home as well. You may miss the Readvent of Calamity quest, as the quest is time-sensitive that involves a dragon attack in Melve. Ignoring this quest will not allow you to activate the quest later in the game, and will not allow you to romance her.

Wilhelmina is another romanceable character. To romance her, you will need to successfully complete the side quest Every Rose Has Its Thorn which is available upon completing the main quest, Feast of Deception. You will be asked to help her assassinate Allard, choosing to offer your help will begin the quest. This quest is also time-sensitive so you will need to gather all 3 evidence and report back to her in 3 days to be able to romance her. It is crucial to follow these steps as choosing the option to tell Allard the plot of his assassination or to decline to assassinate him overall after showing her the report will cause you to fail the quest and to romance her.

Classic game for men! I love it, not even an option to romance the male characters! SOOOO 90's 2000's and I'm all for it! Breath of fresh air from the miasma of woke pheromones that have plagued the gaming industry of late.

It's weird. Wilhelmina was the only one I got a romance scene with and very early on. Then she just vanished until Post game. I even gave her a bunch of gifts in Post game, but the game first gave me Elf girl for Dragon's bargain and then ending on Sara being in the ending cutscene.

Really ruined the sentimental part when it's a character I didn't like at all longing for the Arisen. Neither Wilhelmina nor Ulrika were even in my top 3 by the end of it?!

I think it's funny how people think you can't romance any npc and that you can't romance your pawn. The first games been out for so many years and pawns aernt supposed to have emotions lol.

" that just means those are the two that have more of a story-related connection to the protagonist, like the duchess Aelinore from the first game"
The only two true romance in the story which you can feel that is really the case and not just ultra generic bullshit. for **** sake, try to call the random npc bullshit romance is yet more annoying, or try to defend capcom in try to give only REAL two romances which both are female. This game insist to disappoint.

Has anyone encounter problems with Gift button? Even with Ulrika I am not able yo see that button, I want glyndwr but I only kept going with him with mission but no button option :(

They didn't even bother in giving you a single good male option like like Valmiro and Julien from DD1, this game is is such a ****ing downgrade in so many things **** this game. Capcom don't even EVER again speak on diversity bullshit when all you do is to give only two main female options.

To elaborate on the previous comment, you can "romance" basically any NPC in the game (aside from kids and maybe some other exceptions.) So when this page says there are two "primary characters" that can be romanced, that just means those are the two that have more of a story-related connection to the protagonist, like the duchess Aelinore from the first game. But just like the first game, when you get to the end the dragon is going to pick whatever NPC you have the highest affinity with, whether they're male or female, or story-significant or just some random villager. So if you're not making a concerted effort to romance a particular character, it will probably just be someone that you've completed a bunch of quests for. In my case it was Doireann.

I frankly don't care about Doireann that much though, so I reloaded an inn save and made my way to Harve. Gave Ulrika 5 or 6 bunches of flowers, and then tried again. That was enough for the dragon to set its sights on her instead. If you intend to raise an NPC's affinity this way, note that their affinity can only be increased once per day. So give them an item they like, rest at an inn, repeat as necessary.

However, it's also worth noting that NPC affinity seems to cap at 299 points, so it's not difficult to find yourself with multiple NPCs at that max value. So in that case, I can't say whether the dragon will pick one of them at random, or pick the one you interacted with more recently.

Yeah fun fact you can romance other characters by being nice to them. After I did Glyndwr's side missions he kept coming to my house and had me doing escort missions with him. He was my person for the choice at the end.
