What are Campsites in Dragon's Dogma 2?

New to this sequel game, players are now able to set up camp in various spots throughout the world called Campsites. Players can only camp in Campsites if they have an Item called Camping Kits. Camping Kits are consumable items that are used to set up camp Campsites. They can be bought from various Merchants, or found as loot as you explore. There are different iterations of the items, with the lowest quality ones, called Modest Camping Kits, being liable to be broken if your camp is attacked by Enemies. Therefore, it's imperative that you clear the area first before you set up camp anywhere. Without buying one, you can get your first Modest Camping Kit for free in the early parts of the game, during the events of the Side Quest, Brothers Brave and Timid.

Camping Mechanics in Dragon's Dogma 2

Once you've set up your camp around a Campsite, you'll be able to interact with various things in your camp to access various features. Interacting with your tent will bring up options that allow you to rest or manage your Skills, along with those of your Pawns. This gives you another option with which to access your Skills and customize them while you're far away from any town.

Resting until morning or resting until nightfall will recover any loss to your maximum health, and fully heal you and your companions from any damage and Debilitations. This will also cause the time to pass, either to the next morning or even farther into the next night. This will reset spawn points that you've cleared up on your way to the Campsite, and as you'll be making time pass, you should expect things affected by time to change, such as the condition of some consumables like fruits.

How to Set Up Camp in Dragon's Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma 2 Day and Night Cycle

The dynamism of the game results in the perpetual passage of time, regardless of what the player is doing. This results in events happening, like Enemy encounters, NPC movements, and environmental changes in real-time. This becomes increasingly important as the day turns to night, as the world of the game becomes exponentially more dangerous during nighttime. To avoid the dangers of traveling at night, or to be able to easily access certain aspects of the game that are available during the day, players can decide to set up camp first at a Campsite.

For more in-depth information on the game's Day and Night Cycle and a list of all the changes that occur at night, visit our page here.

How to Find Campsites in Dragon's Dogma 2

While you are on your journey to different locations, you can open the map to find a campfire icon indicated by a fire over 3 logs, or you can spot a campfire while exploring. These campsites are normally located by riversides, bridges, or paths. However, some campsites are more visible at night. You can set up camp to skip the day, or to rest if needed. While some quests or NPCs can be found at night, stronger enemies can also be found at night so be careful when venturing around at night.

Keep extra camping kits in your Storage because they are effectively consumable items with an invisible ticker. You WILL be woken up on occasion no matter what you do (like clearing the area). When you wake up, your camp is put away and you fight so there is nothing to defend (unlike a wagon that the troll tips over and destroys). If woken up enough times your camping kit will be destroyed. It was about ten times on the Elite Camping Kit. Hope this softens the blow for when you lose yours.

I just can't cook anymore in camps. It worked the 1st time but now there it just the fire there and the option for cooking is missing... :(

        • PSA - Always clear out enemies in your campsite area before camping. I literally just lost the basic campsite because I was attacked at night when I was trying to wait until morning.
Not sure if the game told me that, but seems unfair. Hopefully they aren't selling camps willy nilly in the game's store pages?
