Dragon's Dogma 2 Twixt a Rock and a Hard Place Quest Walkthrough

DELIVER THE LETTER TO ERNESTO

To pick up the quest, speak to Akakios in Bakbattahl near the Mercantile Ward. He'll give you the Letter of Request and ask that you deliver it to Ernesto at the Volcanic Island Camp. If you can't find Akakios at the Mercantile Ward or around Bakbattahl, try checking the Battahl Morgue to see if his body is there. If he's dead, use a Wakestone to revive him.

There is a chance that Ernesto is not here since he's dead due to the constant battle that happens at the Volcanic Island Camp. If you don't find him patrolling the area, visit the Battahl Morgue to find his body and use a wakestone to revive him. Speak to the attendant at the morgue to look for a body. It's also recommended to place a Portcrystal at the Volcanic Island Camp so you can easily teleport back.

When you revive him, go back to the camp as soon as possible, find him, and give the letter to progress the quest. He then asks if you can deliver another letter to a man named Barbas. He mentions that you can find him in the Agamen Ruins, not far from the Volcanic Island Camp.

DELIVER THE LETTER TO BARBAS

Head to the Excavation Site which is east of the Volcanic Island Camp, and look for Barbas. Speak to him, and give the "Letter of Request". There are no multiple outcomes so delivering the letter to Barbas will formally complete the quest and you'll be rewarded with 2500 XP, x1 Ferrystone, and 20000 G.

DD2 Twixt a Rock and a Hard Place Quest Objectives

  • Deliver the letter to Ernesto.
  • Deliver the letter to Barbas.

Twixt a Rock and a Hard Place Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2

This Quest has multiple Outcomes. Outcome 1: Delivered the letter

Having experienced the hardships of life in Vermund firsthand, Ernesto considers it his duty to ensure that beastrens seeking safe harbor in Battahl are granted refugee status. But Battahl is by no means free of discrimination, and you cannot but wonder how beastrens who share Ernesto's experience perceive the Battahli's treatment of pawns.

So it would be really nice if y'all could actually tell us WHERE this dude is instead of vaguely gesturing to the most densely populated part of the city. I can't find this dude anywhere and he is NOT in the morgue.

I presume this quest i cancelled during/after "The Guardian Gigantus".

I found this quest when I couldn't teleport to the portcrystal on the island anymore due to that main quest. Ended up failing it.

as far as I can tell this is exists as as a way to introduce players to the volcano region before the main questline
