Mercy among Thieves is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Mercy among Thieves is not affected by the passage of time. Mercy among Thieves is a quest that tasks the player to find the hideout of the Coral Snakes and apprehend the criminals.

A gang of bandits has been menacing the highroad of late, targeting oxcarts with deadly efficiency. But their days are numbered, now that you have been called upon to rout them.

How to Unlock Mercy among Thieves Quest in Dragon's Dogma 2

The quest is acquired by accepting Lyssandro's request. First, progress the story and make sure you can pass the border gate. At the border gate of Checkpoint Rest Town, you'll see a boy named Toumi. Give him food twice (do not give rotten food!) and then speak to the two men standing opposite of the oxcart station after the dialogue cutscene. You'll learn about a bandit gang and you'll want to inquire more. Next, you'll find a man wearing white robes, just nearby. This man is Lyssandro, speak to him and agree to help him to trigger the quest. See Mercy among Thieves on the [Dragon's Dogma 2 Map].

Dragon's Dogma 2 Mercy among Thieves Quest Walkthrough

Find the Coral Snakes' Hideout

Upon your inquiry regarding a gang of bandits, you learn from Lyssandro of the unlawful actions of this group who call themselves the Coral Snakes, and agreed to help bring justice and stop their crimes. Your task now is to find their hideout which can be difficult to find since you won't find it highlighted on the map.  Luckily, you can speak to random NPCs that are traveling along the road, and one of them will have information that will help you pinpoint their location. The hideout is located just south of the Checkpoint Rest Town [See Dragon's Dogma 2 Map]

Infiltrate the Coral Snakes' Hideout

Once you arrive at the hideout, you'll encounter enemies here that will run away, and follow them nearby to the southwest until you reach a cavern.  Now, be prepared to fight here as you'll fight against multiple bandits. Proceed further toward the linear path and fight your way through the enemies with the help of some soldiers. When you reach the end of the hideout, the leader will escape and leave Hugo behind who will be apprehended and sent to the gaol of Battahl. This formally completes the quest and you'll acquire the following rewards: 4000 XP and 8000 G.

DD2 Mercy among Thieves Quest Objectives

Mercy among Thieves Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2

This Quest has no multiple outcomes. Liberated the Coral Snakes' hideout

No one is born a bandit, and not all those who are counted among the ilk of thieves and brigands are as heartless as their deeds suggest. Alas, those who are kinder than the company they keep are apt to be exploited; and so Hugo's devotion to the leader of the Coral Snakes earned him no loyalty in return, but rendered him a tool to be discarded.

Liberated the Coral Snakes' hideout - Mercy among Thieves Rewards:

  • 4000 XP
  • x Dcp
  • 8000 G

maybe caused by the recent patch but this quest is completely broken for me, It started when cunscene with hugo and bandits at the road didnt trigger nad now we standing there where guards must stard to attacking the camp with them and hugo and nothing happening, btw hugo is invulnerable

The quest displays a message on the screen that the Arisen should try to slay the bandit's leader, during the raid. The soldiers were talking about "no quarter" (kill them all), but the Arisen knew there were children among them. If one slew the leader, it suggests that might stop the battle without those kids getting hurt.

Has anyone managed to (find and) kill the leader during the raid, to see if that makes an alternate ending? Or does finding Lanzo just trigger the cut scene showing what a cruel - (insert several beeps here) - that Coral Snakes' boss was?

Thankfully, the follow-up quest "Off the Pilfered Path" has an option to put down that rabid dog before he bites anyone else.

Just wondering if it's possible to take him out sooner, or if that was only a teaser to make us want to find the sequel quest.

anybody know if there is another quest about chasing down the Coral Snakes leader or with Hugo? I had a guard come up to me and there wasn't a quest

If you don't have any progress when investigating the oxcart then Benjamin is dead. Go to the morgue in bakbattal and find Benjamin. Resurrect him and the quest should be in sequence again. You can attack the bandits at the oxcart to progress it up to the end but without Benjamin the guards just walk around and it cannot progress.

This quest can break if you go in blind and guns blazing, as you'll probably kill Hugo. If you don't use a wakestone on him immediately, or if you don't have one on you, the quest doesn't progress. If you manage to bring him to Bahkbattal you might be able to continue ue the quest, he despawned as I was trying to get him there
