Dulled Steel, Cold Forge is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Dulled Steel, Cold Forge is not affected by the passage of time. Roman is an NPC found roaming the castle courtyard and will ask the Arisen to help restore the Dulled Regalia Sword to its former glory by finding the right blacksmith for the job.

You have been entrusted with the repair of a regalia sword wielded by generations of Vermundian rulers. Having it at your hip would do much to aid your claim to the throne.

How to Unlock Dulled Steel, Cold Forge Quest in Dragon's Dogma 2

This quest can be started by talking to Roman in Vernworth Castle courtyard after completing Seat of the Sovran. See Dulled Steel, Cold Forge on the [Dragon's Dogma 2 Map].

Dragon's Dogma 2 Dulled Steel, Cold Forge Quest Walkthrough

Find someone to repair the Dulled Regalia Sword

After approaching Roman at the castle grounds, he will ask you to follow him so you can speak at a more discreet location. He will start to run off to a secluded area nearby so follow his trail until he stops to talk to you again. After doing so, he will ask for your help to restore the Dulled Regalia Sword to its former glory. He needs your help to find someone suitable for the job and you can start by asking Vernworth's Blacksmith for a clue.

The Blacksmith that you're looking for is in Bakbattahl. Head over to town and look for Brokkr's Smithy on the southwest of town. His place is in a secluded area with a narrow pathway gradually growing into a cave. You will find him in the backroom next to the forge, however, he refuses to accept the job because he tells you that he's already retired. On your way out, Sara will interrupt you and will try to talk, but Brokkr's butts in and you won't be able to continue your conversation with Sara, for now.

Wait for Brokkr to leave the building and return once Sara is alone. This time, you will find her next to the forge and she informs you that the sword requires special material. Your next objective is to collect 15x Glimmercoal from Digger's Ruins and then return to her after.

Deliver the Glimmercoal to Sara

Once you have collected x15 Glimmercoal, bring them to Sara and give the materials to her. She will then ask you if you need help to forge it, then agree to let her do the job. Sara will need time to do it so you can spend a few days away, then return to Brokkr's Smithy. She gives you an update that she has barely made any progress on restoring the sword, and will ask you to come back. Spend some days away again, and return once more.

After arriving at Brokkr's Smithy, Sara is nowhere to be seen and instead, Brokkr will confront you. He informs you that Sara has been missing since yesterday and she has gone to a far-off place to try and repair the sword. You will get a marked location on your map, which is at the Mountain Base Cave, a dungeon that is due southwest of Geyser Hamlet.

Head to the path that will take you to the cave entrance. Then, follow the path of wooden planks and eliminate all enemies that you'll come across. NOTE: The next part of this quest requires you to run back to the entrance before the hammer cools off, so you must clear the path by eliminating all enemies before talking to Sara. You will find Sara with what appears to be a natural forge, and she informs you that she made a Blazehammer and must hurry to repair the sword.

Once you made it to the entrance, you will make your way back to Brokkr's Smithy to get the Restored Regalia Sword from Sara.

Return to Roman in Vernworth Castle

After you have acquired the Restored Regalia Sword, all that's left to do is to deliver it to Roman. You can talk to him again where he gave you the details of the quest, and he'll be thankful for your help. The end of this conversation will mark Dulled Steel, Cold Forge as completed.

Dulled Steel, Cold Forge Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2

Let Sara repair the Dulled Regalia Sword:

You brought the regalia sword to Brokkr, a legend of the smithing trade and perhaps the only smith capable of seeing it restored to its former glory. Alas, the crotchety old dwarf is resolute in his retirement, and staunchly refused to lend you his aid. But all hope is not yet lost, for Sara, Brokkr's most promising apprentice, has offered to try her hand in his stead. Now only one question remains: will the apprentice prove equal to the master, or is the regalia sword doomed to disrepair?

Let Sara repair the Dulled Regalia Sword - Dulled Steel, Cold Forge Rewards:

  • 6,000 XP
  • 35,000 G

Such an important sword, and I'm giving it to a child to repair? Why don't I just throw it in the river....

Has anyone tried refusing Sara's offer and giving it to another blacksmith. If you refuse, the quest will say "find someone else to repair the sword" so maybe new dialogue will appear at this step.

This is one hell of an in-depth quest for a whole lot of nothing... Seriously.. restore a legendary sword with fabled techniques.. gather rare ore not found anywhere else in the world... ok... go to a hell cave and escort the blacksmith... ok... that part of the quest is even TIMED ffs..... you have to travel to literally all three 'major' areas in the game... ok.... and you get..... 35k gold? Thats freaking it? Really dropped the ball on this nonsense fetch quest.

Can't figure this quest out. Brokkr just straight up never leaves the smithy. I have the required Glimmercoal but Sara and him just stand there never moving repeating the same lines of dialogue.

Info is incorrect. Quest isn't automatically available after seat of the sovereign. I'm doing NG+ atm and left the main quest mostly untouched. When I speak to Roman nothing happens.

Can we make extra gold on the quest by turning forgery in for the 35k gold quest reward then sell the real one for 18k?

I refused to give the sword to Sara becouse I knew more capable man for duty. But why I can't give the sword to Gautstafr. I trust this man more than Brokkr anyway.

Umm.. that's not how blacksmithing works. You don't heat the hammer. That would dothe exact opposite of what you wanted. That's like smithing 101. Teh basiccs of the basics

I provided 20 glimmercoal and it didn't give me the option to accept her forging the blade for some reason.

When I try to deliver the coal, I get 5 slots with 5 ore required for each slot, so a total of 25 ore needed! It says "partial delivery OK" on top but it won't let me finish it. What is going on...?
