The Guardian Gigantus Dragon's Dogma 2 Quest Walkthrough

Take the Godsbane to Phaesus

After retrieving the Empowered Godsbane Blade from Ambrosius, make your way outside the Forbidden Magick Research Lab so that you can make your way Phaesus. As you exit the lab, a cutscene will play showing Phaesus and his men opening the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door and going through it. You'll now need to head South of Bakbattahl and use the Empowered Godsbane Blade to open those doors.

Once you arrive at the Flamebearer Palace Spellseal Door, press the examine button and your character will immediately raise the sword to unlock the doors. Make your way through the rocky path and once you're nearing the cliff side, a cutscene will play out showing the Guardian Gigantus named Talos rising from the ocean and will approach Volcanic Island. After a while, you'll be able to free roam again and see the Guardian Gigantus walking towards the island. You'll now need to follow the path again before the monster can reach the Moonglint Tower and do whatever means necessary to slow down Talos. Just keep following the quest marker until you keep up with the Guardian Gigantus. Upon reaching the island with the surrounding water, A cutscene will play out showing the Guardian Gigantus staring at Phaesus and his men.

Slowing Down Guardian Gigantus

As Gigantus slowly moves towards Moonglint Tower, you'll need to find a way to stop him. Luckily for you, he moves really slowly. To stop or slow down Gigantus, you'll need to target the glowing spikes which are his weak spots that are sticking all around his body. If you have a melee class, striking them will cause the spikes to fall off and cause a bleeding effect. You can start attacking him from the water if you have ranged attacks equipped to you, but just in case Gigantus gets on land, you'll need to take advantage of the terrain in the area. Take advantage of the high paths so that your character can jump on Gigantus and reach the weak spots. Otherwise, you can utilize the big artillery bows that are being used by Soldiers who are defending Moonglint Tower

You'll need to capitalize on climbing different points of the body, and make sure that there are pawns on the ground so that if you fall, they can try to catch you. As Gigantus progresses towards the tower, Soldier NPCs will slowly grow in number to try and stop him, this will cause Gigantus to be stunned by the reign of fire that it is receiving, this will give you some time to attack his remaining weak spots. If you manage to knock out all the weak spots, you can start attacking it until Gigantus dies before he reaches Moonglint Tower. Also, if you fail to bring down Gigantus, he will eventually be defeated by the NPC Soldiers who are also trying to stop it just before he gets to the base of the tower. Letting the NPCs handle Gigantus will just refrain you from getting any reward, but if you do actually defeat Gigantus, you will be rewarded with 19,000 XP.

Once done, head over to the Moonglint Tower Entrance and a cutscene will play out. It's important to take note that even if you decide to not battle Gigantus, you'll still be able to go to Moonglint Tower and this quest will eventually be logged as completed.

I just finished fighting this for the first time, I was climbing up to smash the weakpoints as a Spearhand just by smasking while grabbed.

Was half way to the camp and sure to fail when for some reason my sorcerer main pain finally decided to do something to help(unlike the hires that stood around talking the entire fight). He cast one Maelstrom on the Talos high up the body and broke every weakpoint from the torso up. All I had to do was bust the right foot, the left thigh and the right hand and I was done in time for the achievement. Never taking him for granted again, totally saved this run with one spell

Hi, could you edit this page?
There are 3 ways of ending with Talos:
1 His body is 100% destroyed: he reaches the lava or you petrify him with medusa's head.
2 You defeat him late so he loses his right arm.
3 You defeat him early so his body is 100% intact and you get the achievment.

The reason Im saying this, its because this changed the post game boss fights. I did my best to defeat Talos early (it bugged in my first try, he wouldnt take damage) and I found out that now I have 3 bosses to fight in the post game instead of 5.

Im not specially mad, you just gave me a reason so play the whole NG+. But it's very meaningful to lose 2 big boss fights.

After it gets onto the beach hit it with Unmaking Arrow (Archer Vocation). 8 Wakestone shards pop out you can collect. Follow it until it smashes a stone bridge. It will then shut down its "motor" and take a knee. You get the Trophy for defeating it and XP.

At this point the Harpies will become hostile again.

In my earlier attempt, the shard on its heel took forever to knock out (which was reason enough to reload the Inn save, switch to Archer and buy the Unmaking Arrow). By then one of its arms had detached, and it also stomped the V I Camp. I don't think you want either of these things to happen.

Good way to get Wakestone Shards.

Honestly the first time i encountered this boss i wasnt even sure if i had to fight him or not. So i just ran all the way to the end only to find out both gates were locked, so i ran all the way back to kill it.
Once i broke all his weak spots i kept attacking but it didnt seem to be doing anything...eventually he arrived at the bridge and stopped.
Would be nice if after destroying all the weak spots there was some feedback to show that your attacks are actually doing something, because i was really confused at that point.

completely bugged... The spike on his left leg is impossible to break in my game. I wailed at it while spending 5 fine harspud roborants which pretty much recover all stamina... And still even after that it was nowhere close to breaking. All the other spikes broke easily enough, but this one didn't.

My party was walking up a wooden ramp on the bridge when he threw his lance and we all immediately clipped through the floor into the ocean. Lost all my pawns and then a cutscene played out, triggering an autosave so I was stuck fighting him solo or going back many hours to the last time i was at an inn. once he was dead and the whole world was out of combat mode i was able to go back to Volcanic Island Camp and get my pawns but I think some stuff ended up bugged; the village never got damaged despite me never touching him, npcs were alarmed but didnt aggro him till the end of his path, quest prompts got buggy and i was unable to use the godsbane to trigger the secret ending. another endgame bug to watch for, highly recommend resting at an inn right before crossing the spell door in bakbatahl!

So I shot this ******* with the unmaking arrow while he was still in the water. He lost ALL his pegs. But he keeps moving. I don't even know where to attack him now

                  • Anonymous

This quest is effected by time and the colossus is summoned no matter where you are or what your doing after so long

                    • Anonymous

I used a magic Archer and the homing frost arrows to ABSOLUTELY easy kill all stakes and the giant itself before he even got close to the village Did not try the maester skill but it wasnt necessary at all.

                      • Anonymous

So dont listen to anyone else on here. Do save the fortress, you have to have all of the stake destroyed BEFORE the cutscene of Phaseus boarding the fortress lift. If you even have 1 left, Gigantus will crush the fortress.
I kept destroying the last post after that and it would just keep walking.

                        • Anonymous

So Im guessing, if you DONT break all of the crystals before the fortress gates this thing just auto walks to the end? The last crystal stake is 10x harder to break and when I finally do it keeps walking like it has to finish the script

                          • Anonymous

Be warned as soon as the cutscene plays you have no time to do anything else so be prepared to be moving as soon as the cutscene plays.

So I defeated it, got the fast achievement. But what's the reward for culling this monster? All I got was xp, surely the makers of this game didn't ignore giving this boss items to drop??

                              • Anonymous

Used the Unmaking Arrow( the second one) and got both the achievment and saved the village. No softlock so far.

                                • Anonymous

Killed the Gigantus before it reached the Volanic Island Camp. Did not get the achievement and the entire quest is bugged now. Objective is Moonglint Tower but nothing happens there. Object at the end is not interactable.

his left arm crystal wont break for me....and he destroyed the valcano village so far...this bug is annoying

IGNORE WHAT THE STUPID WIKI SAYS, IF YOU IGNORE THE FIGHT WHEN THE CUTSCENES START TO HAPPEN, IT'LL PROCEED WITHOUT YOU AND THE GIANT WILL BE KILLED.

                                      • Anonymous

Softlocked even though I killed the giant, cannot proceed onto legacy... I hope modders or capcom find a solution.

                                        • Anonymous

I choose to ignore this fight and after the cutscene of the giant being killed by the guards i have a infinite black screen every time i reload, making me lose my 54 hours save. Don't ignore the fight -.-

                                          • Anonymous

was wondering what's going to happen if u just ignore the fight and apparently you only miss out on some xp funny af at least the view was nice
