Welcome to Battahl is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). This quest will have you feel the prevalent discrimination against Pawns, and Vermundians by extension, in the nation of Battahl. As you pass by one of the town's taverns, you have an encounter with a local that will put you at odds with his men. Depending on how you fare, a formidable mercenary by the name of Raghnall will assist you. This quest is not affected by the passage of time and has multiple outcomes.
As you wandered through Battahl, a man offered to buy you a drink at the local tavern, in exchange for a tale or two.
How to Unlock Welcome to Battahl Quest in Dragon's Dogma 2
This quest is unlocked when you reach Bakbattahl for the first time and walk the path that goes through The Wanderer's Haven. See Welcome to Battahl on the [Dragon's Dogma 2 Map].

- Winning the unfair 3-on-1 fight may result in more rewards than the other two outcomes, along with Raghnall's praise.

- If you get hit a few times during the 1-on-1 duel, Raghnall will step in and concede the duel to the ruffians, resulting in a loss of money for you despite the quest getting marked complete.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Welcome to Battahl Quest Walkthrough
Defeat the Ruffians
This quest will automatically activate as you pass through The Wanderer's Haven when you reach Bakbattahl for the first time. To get there, just enter the main hub of Bakbattahl, follow the main central path, and then turn right at the corner where the Bakbattahl Oxcart Station is. As you pass through that road right by the tavern, you'll get stopped by a Beastren by the name of Roger. Before you start the quest, however, make sure to make some preparations for a potentially difficult duel by visiting the merchants and blacksmiths in town accordingly.
He'll comment on how you're traveling with Pawns and claim that Vermundians aren't allowed in this tavern. If you completed the Nation of the Lambent Flame upon getting here, you'll recognize this as an instance of discrimination against Pawns - an issue that, as Menella had made you aware, has been plaguing Battahl. However, he'll say that he'd let you go if you win a fight against his minions. Otherwise, they'll take all your belongings. Your Pawns can't join you in this fight.
Outcome 1: Win the One-on-Three Fight
The Walkthrough for this outcome is a work in progress. If the details are available, please feel free to add them here.
Participate in the Duel
This will be a difficult fight for most Vocations that lead you to not be too defensively proficient, or if you're mainly a ranged-attacker. You also won't have much space to run around as you're limited to the narrow pathway that runs through the tavern. If you're unable to do any meaningful damage to the three goons within a period of time, or if you get hit by even just a few swings consecutively, a man named Raghnall will use his reputation to turn the fight into a fair one, as you contend with just one goon by the name of Taleef.
Outcome 2: Win the One-on-One Duel
The Walkthrough for this outcome is a work in progress. If the details are available, please feel free to add them here.
Outcome 3: Lose the One-on-One Duel
Unfortunately, even with the fairer odds, this fight will still not be too easy for certain Vocations and depending on what Skills you've chosen to invest in. Regardless, if you get hit again by even just a few swings consecutively, Raghnall will step in again. This time he'll concede the fight on your behalf and pay them to diffuse the situation. Unfortunately, it'll still come out of your own pockets. He'll offer some encouragement and leave you with the hope that the two of you can have a fair duel of your own someday.
DD2 Welcome to Battahl Quest Objectives
- Defeat the ruffians
- (Conditional) Participate in the duel

This Quest has three Outcomes. Win the 3-on-1 Fight:
Some citizens of Battahl have proven to be more welcoming than others. No sooner had you set foot in a Bakbattahli tavern than you found yourself beset by a band of beastren ruffians, who took offense to your very presence in their local watering hole. Yet your challengers soon realized that they had bitten off more than they could chew, for you rose to the occasion by defeating them handily.

Went in as a Thief with Smoke Shroud, as soon as the duel started I dodged to the side and threw down a smoke bomb, knocked one of them down and did finishers on them until they died and did the same for the last 2 making sure to refresh the smoke cloud, none of them landed a single hit on me, gg ez.

I used Thief with the Stilettos I found in a ruined house in Vernworth. Dodged behind Taleef, threw a smokebomb and stunlocked him against the ground with the heavy attack and grounded finisher. It took maybe three minutes of constant stabbing, but I won.

I think if you go too far it counts as you losing as well, I was trouncing the opponent as a mystic spearhand and tossed the opponent far and chased after him and it counted as a loss even though he didn't even managed to land a single hit on me.
so be careful about that

Walked into this encounter naked while switching my vocations. Literally caught with my pants down

I found for the first outcome the easiest method is to be using the Magic Spearhand to freeze the enemies, knock them down with a strong attack and similar to the rogue strategy to finish them off while downed with combo and finisher moves. The upside to this is you can back off and refreeze them as necessary when they begin to surround or counter attack you. Also backing down the alley into the wide intersection makes it so you have more room to maneuver and fight instead of the narrow passage between where you encounter them and the inn. Sometimes as you back away they'll get stuck on the watching NPCs as well making it so you only have to fight 1 - 2 at a time then go after the others making the fight much easier and less likely to go on to the next phase of solo dueling as individually they're weak especially when they can be stunned immobile. Also the intersection is cleared during the fight and the NPCs don't follow you into it so there's no confusion on who the enemies are as sometimes until attacked their health bars don't show making it confusing on who is and isn't an enemy when surrounded by similar dressed NPC bystanders.
