How to Unlock A New Godsway in Dragon's Dogma 2

This quest unlocks automatically after completing the quest, Convergence. [See Dragon's Dogma 2 Map]

A New Godsway Quest Description

A New Godsway - Quest Start Description

The Godsbane that Rothais entrusted into your care is no mere blade, but his own soul—the soul of an Arisen. This, it seems, is what Ambrosius has been so desperately seeking.

A New Godsway - Quest End Description

The blade you received from Rothais was merged with the wyrmslife crystals you harvested from kin of dragons to create an unparalleled godsway with the aspect of a sword. It seems only fitting that you wield this artifact—perhaps it will guide you down the path you ought to take as the Arisen.

A New Godsway Quest Objectives

  • Deliver the godsbane to Ambrosius.
  • Obtain fifteen wyrmslife crystals.
  • Await the new godsway.

A New Godsway Dragon's Dogma 2 Quest Walkthrough

Deliver the godsbane to Ambrosius.

Right after you retrieve the dulled Godsbane blade that Rothais left in your care after the Convergence quest, you'll need to bring the blade to Ambrosius in the Forbidden Magick Research Lab in Bakbattahl. From the Seafloor Shrine - Sacred Grounds area, head Southwest until you reach Bakbattahl. From here, head to the eastern side by following the quest marker and you'll find yourself crossing a small bridge leading to a door which is the Forbidden Magick Research Lab. Head down the stairs and turn left through the doors and you'll see Ambrosius.

You can find a chest to the right of Ambrosius upon entering his area in the lab. You can also get a Prescribed Tranquility on the left side by the bookshelf. After collecting the items, speak with Ambrosius and select the Dulled Godstone Blade, and give it to him. Amboricus will be surprised and will ask you how you obtained such an item but will shrug off the question. He'll proceed to mention that with this item alone, he will be able to craft the finest superior godsway. Afterward, he's going to need some wyrmslife crystals and you can agree to get it for him. Ambrosius will laugh and question you if you know what you're talking about. He'll tell you that these crystals can only be obtained from Drakes. He'll then send you off and you'll need to obtain 15 wyrmslife crystals.

Obtain 15 Wyrmslife Crystals

To get to the 15 Wyrmslife Cyrstals, head northwest of Bakbattahl to the Reverent Shrine to consult the oracle. For a faster travel time, you have the option to use an Oxcart. Upon arriving, speak with the oracle and choose "Where is the dragon I seek?" after you reach Reverrent Shrine. She'll direct you to the Dragonsbreath Tower which is southwest of Battahl. Make sure to head back to Bakbattahl and retrieve the necessary healing items and get a camping kit. If by any chance, you've already encountered Drakes before, there's a possibility that you have already collected the necessary number of Wyrmslife Crystals needed for this quest, if that's the case, you can skip the hard parts already.

Once you've rested and restocked in supplies, head west from Bakbattahl until you reach a fork in the road and turn right. Continue on this path going to the Dragonsbreath Tower.

While traveling, make sure to check your map from time to time until you reach the border between Bakbattahl and Wyrmsblood Forest. You'll notice that a road going North into Wyrmblood Forest already leads to the tower.  As you cross the bridge and enter the forest, an NPC named Marthe will try to prevent you from entering because of the dangers inside the forest. You'll need to prepare yourself for Harpies, Goblins, and other Battahl enemies.

Ogre Boss Fight

As you get near the tower going up, your character will encounter an Ogre which will commence a boss fight. The Ogre is a fast-moving monster that is quite huge. It is possible that it may begin assaulting you with slow attacks at first; nevertheless, you should not be fooled by this monster because it will occasionally suddenly burst into speed and seize your character. Its typical assaults consist of slow swings and slow stomps, but on occasion, it would get some pace and run towards you in order to either stomp on you or grasp you. These ogres are notorious for their great power as well as their preference for females, whose scent it tirelessly follows, seizes, and then makes an attempt to consume.

Proceed to the Dragonsbreath Tower

After defeating the ogre, make sure to heal up and rest before proceeding again up the tower. You'll also need to deal with some Harpies that will ambush you after you defeat the Ogre. Once you have eliminated the harpies, you can loot the Golden Trove Beetle that is located on the right side of the big tree where the Harpies ambushed you.

Now, continue on the path until you see another bridge that you can cross. This bridge will lead to a Riftstone where you can make final preparations for yourself in terms of choosing better pawns that will aid you in the Boss fight with the Lesser Drake. Once you're done with your preparations, get behind the riftstone and loot 3 Salubrious Draught. Afterward, proceed further through the path until you reach a flight of stairs that has a campsite near it. You can boost the necessary stats that you want here and regenerate your health. Once you're all set, head up the stairs and you'll meet Sigurd, who is the Mystic Spearhead vocation master who will volunteer to battle the Lesser Dragon with your team. Now, head up the stairs and proceed to the Boss area where you'll find the Lesser-Drake in combat with some Harpies.

Lesser Drake Boss Fight

Drakes are a returning enemy from the first Dragon's Dogma. They resemble the Dragon but are much smaller and have different color scales from the larger red Dragon. Like in the last game, Drakes sport weak spots on their chest in the form of a glowing heart and have the ability to spew fire with their fire breath. If a Drake reaches out to seize you, you should use caution. A considerable amount of damage is caused to the player if they are seized after being slammed to the ground. For the purpose of bringing the Drake to a halt, it is possible to attack its wings. Once you defeat the Drake, collect the needed Wyrmslife Crystal. With the dragon slain, we may access the Seeker's Token above the pillars in the boss area. To find it, take the stairs to the top, climb onto the pillar, and walk across to the far end.

Bring the Crystals to Ambrosius

Now, when you're ready to embark back to the Forbidden Magick Research Lab to give Ambrosius the 15 Wyrmslife Crystals, head East back to Bakbattahl. Once you get back, Ambrosius will be surprised that you managed to retrieve the needed crystals. He'll then ask you to return the next day since he needs a day to finish the blade.

Wait a day for Ambrosius to prepare the blade

After a day, going back to his office will cause a brief cutscene to play out. In this scene, Ambrosius makes an attempt to keep the godsway for himself, but the Pathfinder prevents him from proceeding and brain washes him. The godsway is handed over to you by Ambrosius, who then requests that you deliver it to Phaseus on his behalf. This brings the quest to an end, which will reward you with 35,000 money, 6000 experience points, a Wakestone, and the Empowered Godsbane Blade.

I'm so confused. I've never even meet this guy, I only saw him in a cart passing by. Why the F do I have this quest and supposed to give him this sword? it's so weird, it's like I skipped quests or something

        Thing is...
This quest is also bugged. He will not appear in his lab, and no matter how long you wait in game....he will not appear.
So this quest is broken of you already had the crystals.
