DD2 Griffin Enemy Information

According to the DD1 Lore, Griffins are thought to have come from a strange bird, mutated by the effects of the Rift, with the ability to adapt and has since spread throughout Gransys.

Griffins are known to be attracted to bright objects and have formed a habit of hoarding treasures and gold. They are extremely wary of the slightest sound and are sensitive to any nearby attackers. When you find a sleeping Griffin, they will instantly get up as soon as you approach their zone.

They were known as conjurers of electricity. With their power, they can magically attack any hostile with electricity. Subsequently, Griffins are known to be intelligent magical beasts and are capable of analyzing their surroundings. This is why they have been highly regarded as noble creatures since ancient times. To this day, many prefer to use the symbol of a griffin on their swords and armor, especially in the standards of knights.

Despite their size, Griffins are also not particularly aggressive. They hunt for food and not for pose. They are peaceful creatures unless provoked, or you try and steal their prized treasures.

Griffin Enemy Combat Guide for DD2

In the original game, Griffins were known to be weak against fire spells and enchanted weapons. We can see a similar characteristic here when we were able to set the beast on fire and they immediately tried to flee. Similarly, when Griffins take a considerable amount of damage, they would try to flee and fly above your party. During this time, you can try to jump off a platform to reach its leg and climb on its body to deal melee damage, or you may also try to hit it with ranged attacks while it flies above you.

Griffins are strong and smart beasts that have a huge amount of HP. It will need a full party to come out of this battle unscathed and some tactics would require distracting the beast so you can jump on its back and mount it. Dragon's Dogma 2 also now allows players to use their environment to tackle fights creatively, so make sure to look around and use everything that's available at your disposal.

During our play experience, we didn't notice any kind of Thunder spells from the griffin that we encountered, but in the original game, some griffins can withstand Thunder spells, and some were able to conjure them. Griffins are also immune to Torpor and Blindness, but they are vulnerable to poison.

The easiest way to mount a griffin is by grabbing its tail and holding onto its body. In retaliation, they will flap their wings strongly causing you to drop from its back. You can try this again but make sure to recover your stamina. The Griffin also doesn't have any tail attacks, so you can safely position yourself from its behind.

The Griffin that attacked me at the ropeway station ran away with 10% health to the Wasteland Griffin Nest located just a bit north east of the " Reverent Shrine" Hope this helps someone chase down their griffin and get that sweet revenge! - Pikk

When traveling north of Harve, close to the mist area, i got attacked by the griffin who got its nest in that area.
While fighting it, I grabed it close to the time it normally flees and it took of with me on top.
my stamina was quite close to nothing, when we ended up in its nest, so it is possible to get to the nest by holding on to this griffin in particular.
I cant tell if the other griffins might have nests too, which might be reachable with this method, but the one with the "forested griffin nest" definitly has one connected to it.

Just be careful when you try this out. Firstly cause the nest is quite small, so fighting is a bit tricky and the griffin wont flee anymore once there. Second reason is, that i lost one of my pawns (likely due to the distance, i cant say for certain) on the way to the nest.
Btw i had no problem falling from the griffin as it entered the nest. For some reason my main pawn just happened to be standing right where i would have landed and catched me, so i didnt die from it.

Griffins can in fact cast thunder spells, it doesnt necessarily fly to cast them but he does mark the ground where the lighting will fall!

I just managed to get a griffon to spot twice in the exact same spot. East of Vernworth there's a campsite called Ruined Settlement. in daytime at level 34 I traveled from the ruined settlement north and upon reaching the eastern side of the bride to the north, a griffon spawned overhead, and swooped in to attack from the north.

I rested 3 days at my house in Vernworth, came back across the bridge, nothing, then went to ruined settlement, and approached the bridge coming from the east side again, griffin spawned, swooped in to attack from the north.
