Drake is an Enemy in Dragon's Dogma 2. Drakes are lesser Dragons that have the same glowing heart and ability to breathe fire, but are smaller in stature.
A monster of the dragon family, the Drake spits out powerful flames. It also possesses the intelligence to skillfully manipulate magic. If you encounter one, be prepared for an all-out battle.
DD2 Drake Enemy Information
Drakes are a returning enemy from the first Dragon's Dogma. They resemble the Dragon, but are much smaller and have different color scales from the larger red Dragon. Like in the last game, Drakes sport weakspots on their chest in the form of a glowing heart and have the ability to spew fire with their fire breath.

Where to Find Drakes in Battahl
- From Bakbattahl, exit out to the west, heading up past Jarle's Home and The Rockmouse's Burrow. Follow the path until you get to Battahl Ropeway Central Station. Ride the ropeway all the way to the northeast and then follow the road south until you come across the river. Head west through an offroad path until you encounter a Drake where the streams of water meet. [Dragon's Dogma 2 Map]
- From the Volcanic Island Camp, head north to find a Drake near the beach. [Dragon's Dogma 2 Map]
- From Bakbattahl, exit out to the west, heading down the road past the Mercantile Ward. Keep to the lower road when the path splits and then keep following the road as it diverges to the far southwest. When the path splits, keep to the one closer to the north as it'll continue to lead you to the southwestern edge of the map. When the path splits again ignore the northern path this time which leads to the Caliginous Depths and follow the southern one all the way to the Dragonsbreath Tower, where a Drake will be waiting for you on your first visit. [Dragon's Dogma Map]
- From the Battahl Ropeway Station Three, continue down the river going west to find a Drake there. [Dragon's Dogma 2 Map]
- On the Volcanic Island, there is a Drake spawn in the lava area west of the Excavation Site.

Drake Enemy Combat Guide for DD2
Be cautious when a Drake reaches out to seize. Slamming the player to the ground causes significant harm if they are grabbed. The wings of the Drake can be attacked to bring it to a halt.

DD2 Drake Notes and Tips
- Drakes have the ability to infect the Arisen's pawns with Dragonsplague. This happens when the Drake seizes one of the Arisen's pawns and stares leeringly at the pawn in its grasp, creating an ominous aura from the Drake's eyes and to the pawn's head. This can be interrupted by dealing the Drake a blow with high knockdown power, preventing infection.

It either flies away in a minute or it just stays in the air for what seems like forever to spam meteora. As a warrior main this is… nothing that hasn’t been said before, I guess.

In this spot near the Nameless Village in the east of Vernworth a drake spawns that keeps flying away when I get it down to 3 healthbars. I’ve killed a bunch of them already, and I’m starting to get used to them, but this specific spawn for some reason keeps flying away. I just fought it for the third time and after a minute or something its already down to 3 healthbars before it just flies away. I’ve had drakes I fought for much longer until I just killed them outright. But this thing just f*cks off in the middle of all of it. Its just frustrating, it makes no sense to me at all. “Some elite monsters will leave after some time if you don’t kill them fast enough”. This is in my experience inconsistent as all hell. Just annoying, man.

Mfers keep flying away right as I'm about to kill them. COWARDS!

A single shot from a Nocuous Arrow (with the Medusa Bow) will stun them, knocking them out of flight/spellcasting/fire breath. I will test this with a regular bow and then if it works, I will edit the Wiki to include this information.

Grabs really cool if it manages to hit your pawn which in my experience is very rare.

One will consistently spawn every 7 in game days at the dragonbreath tower after doing Sigurds quest. Another one would spawn just outside the tomb of all ghutto, however this spawn seems to be limited as after about 5 spawns I only get other large monsters whenever I've gone back there lately. Dragonsbreath tower is consistent so far.

Hey. So... Annoyingly when u need the crystal to drop. They end up dropping wakestones

An additional one can spawn on Agamen Volcanic Island, south west of the encampment in a big lava pit.
From the eastern exit follow the main road until you can go south.
You'll eventually run into a bigger pit of lava, there's a lot of enemies so you want to clean up the area before fighting the drake.

Anyone figured out how long it takes for a drake respawn? Im sure it has been weeks since I killed the one at the ancient battleground and still have not seen it return. Went after another spawn northwest of the nameless village and the damn thing flew away before I could finish it off.

Does it reappear after the first kill? Or its just a one time boss? the water killed it in my playthrough so I couldn't get loots :/

Is it normal for drakes to flee? Ive had an encounter within the capital city of Vermund and after 2-3 health bars its just flew away.... same thing in ruins
