Dragon's Dogma 2 House of the Blue Sunbright Quest Walkthrough

Visit the Manor

The Manor, or the Townsend's Estate is located at the Noble Quarter. Diana will greet you as soon as you enter the door. She bears news for the troubles of her young master but Sebastian, the young master hears this and will explain the situation. According to Sebastian, he can't leave the house as her mother constantly looks for him. He asks you to find a lookalike so he can attend to matters of his own without worrying his mother.

Look for Sebastian's look-alike at The Slums

The look-alike the maid was referring to is Daphne, the child from The Slums that you helped a few days ago (if you completed The Gift of Giving). Look for her near the tent outside The Gracious Hand building, the biggest one at The Slums. Daphne is hesitant at first but will follow your lead to the manor. Sebastian is pleased with how much they look similar and will ask the maid to dress her up and give the instructions while he's going to be away.

Sebastian is preparing for his trip to Melve so he can fetch a gift for his mother. Talk to Daphne and Diana and you will be given these instructions:

  • Diana: The lands around Melve are rife with poisonous flora. I'd hoped to pack an antidote for the young master, but the shops had none to spare. 'Tis not only poison the plants inflict, but drowsiness besides. Might there not be a curative that accounts for both?
  • Daphne: I hear the safest way to get to Melve is to carry something that reeks of cyclops with you because it will scare all the monsters away.

you will help Sebastian prepare by giving him an antidote for poison and drowsiness, such as the Detoxifying Decoction and Waking Powder, and something that reeks of Cyclops because it will scare the monsters away. For this requirement, we gave Sebastian a Rugged Bone. After handing out the items, Sebastian will take his leave. For now, wait for a few days and return to the manor to find out how Sebastian fared.

Alternative: Giving an All Heal Elixir and Cyclops Eye will work for this quest.

Return to the Manor

You will find Sebastian has safely arrived from his trip to Melve and has brought home a Blue Sunbright. The excitement of Daphne discovering that the Blue Sunbright is real will get the attention of Natasha, Sebastiana's mother who has been helping The Gracious Hand. She will immediately dismiss Daphne and tell her to leave. After this interruption, the quest House of the Blue Sunbright will be marked as completed.

After a few days have passed, return to The Gracious Hand and you will find Diana near the tent where Daphne used to stand. She reveals that the lady of the manor has fired her from her job as a maid and that Daphne is Sebastian's own twin sister.

Outcome 2: You failed to help Sebastian prepare for the trip

The Walkthrough for this outcome is a work in progress. If the details are available, please feel free to add them here.

DD2 House of the Blue Sunbright Quest Objectives

  • Visit the manor.
  • Find Sebastian's look-alike.
  • Escort Daphne to the manor.
  • Help Sebastian prepare by giving him the necessary items

House of the Blue Sunbright Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2

This Quest has multiple Outcomes. You failed to save Sebastian:

Though their upbringings could not be more different, Daphne and Sebastian were the spitting image of one another—and now that the young master is no more, the girl of the slums has been forced to take his place among the nobility. But while at first glance this seems a drastic upswing in her fortunes, will Daphne truly be able to get by in this new world, so different from the only one she has ever known?

You helped Sebastian prepare for his trip to Melve:

Though their upbringings could not be more different, Daphne and Sebastian are the spitting image of one another. Yet in spite of the likeness they share, the appearance of a girl from the slums in the young noble's family manor caused something of an uproar. One can only hope that no lasting harm will come of this incident.

Just give him sobering and detoxifying potion, they're easy to craft. Panacea is way too precious & expensive to give to an NPC like this. You'll need a lot of panacea if you're going outside of Vermund.

The fact that there is no follow-up quest to right some wrongs irks me to no end. The maid didn’t deserve to be fired, and Daphne is such a sweet girl that it bothers me that her own mother doesn’t even recognize her and takes her in to live with her real family. Just feels unfinished.

        • Anonymous

The fact that there's no way for this quest to end better irritates me. I have 4 houses, in 2 different kingdoms, why the **** can't I give her a home? Or better yet, commission the town to work on building the slums into a more livable environment? Hell, just let me use celestial pean on the mom and see if she gets clarity and remembers the kid!

          • Anonymous

Just listen to the npcs before he leaves and give the obvious af cyclops eye, waking powder, and detoxifying decoction. She basically spells it out by saying "you can get poisoned or drowsy so get a potion that can cure BOTH" This doesn't mean at the same time, so just ONE panacea won't cut it since the idiot gets poisoned on two separate occasions.

Trivia/Bug: When first visiting Diana at the Manor -- when Sebastian descends the stairs and speaks, his dialogue appears as "Diana! Would you paint my mother a villain!?" -- but he actually speaks the word "criminal" instead of "villain".

              • Anonymous

how come you can revive a old ass lady but you cant revive a kid? what bs is that? plus i gave the kid a cyclops eye and health **** and it still failed. i had no idea this was even a timed quest till i ended up in another city, some of that may have been my fault for not fully realizing the glowing hourglass flashing. didnt realize was an hourglass till later

Seems to be missing a follow-up. The priest (?) who asked for alms now constantly asks me to "do right by Daphne."

In DD1, it was possible to essentially "adopt" Selene. She moves into the Arisen's house, and lives there for the rest of the game.

In DD2, the Arisen could theoretically adopt Daphne, and hire the fired maid to look after the girl and the house while the Arisen is out taking care of business.

Has anyone found a means to do so? Or figured out what the guy means when he says "Do right by Daphne"? Sure, there cannot be a repeat of "the recent debacle." But what's the next step? Or is it missing?

First play through, Daphne disappeared after I'd spent a few weeks out of town. Couldn't find her anywhere. The maid was still standing in the slums, by Daphne's tent, and lamenting her foolishness for "meddling in the affairs of nobles." But the young girl was nowhere to be found. Neither in the slums, nor in the house where her mother and brother lived.

Will try to check back oftener this round, see if I can learn anything new.

Anyone else notice how insignificant quest decisions and results are in this game? Like literally I went to look and see if anything changes in a lot of quests that are said to effect certain NPC's and in a number of them the devs at capcom didn't even bother making a real NPC? like for example "Till death do us part" quest where Ser Ludolph gets poisoned at the end. I went and looked for hours to see if Ser Ludolph could be found in the noble sector or crypt below and literally the guy DOESN'T EXIST! And don't even get me started on the quest "House of the Blue Sunbright" That poor twin girl just gets to be a beggar forever! No other quest result, just a beggar forever! Why can't I alter her fate in anyway? Is the quest just a portrait of reality for us all to swallow? I really just can't seem to understand why they limited themselves so hard with this game? Even the fact that they made this game sooooo impossible to mod. Mod authors are having no end of trouble making content for a game that could have otherwise been a massive hit if they just let it be more community friendly. I wanted to love this game so much more then I do. It feels a lot like "Tears of the Kingdom" For me. A game that seems to have been forsaken to just fade into oblivion. Could have been the next skyrim, or Elden Ring, but for me its looking like the community is already done and moving on.

After completing the quest, what does that Gracious Hand guy mean by make sure nothing like this happens again?
Does he want us to kill Daphne?

                      • Anonymous

Only good thing about this quest is that Daphne kinda got her wish from her fetch quest. She wanted to speak with her parents and got to speak to her mother even if she didn't realize it.

I realized I screwed up and immediately went to look for him. I found him in the bushes around the corner from melve scared and asking for help

                          • Anonymous

Tip: Bring a wakestone with you if you get the part of the quest to go find him because you didn't give him the right combo of stuff like I did (do NOT give him a panacea or Allheal potions!). If you're sent to look for him then he is dead no matter what, there's no chance to save him other than with a wakestone.

I like the spoiler for the questline before the method of how to complete it. I guess it's kinda obvious what's going to happen but still, poor writing of the article.

                              • Anonymous

I decided to let the twin sister live it up for a while so Sebastian can adventure to his hearts content. I gave him a steak, and some sticks to cook it on, since camping is miserable without great food.

                                • So interestingly enough I gave the boy Sebastian, (Panacea, Ring of Awareness, Cyclops Eye). When I returned to the manor a day later the NPC said he seemed to be missing. So I Ported over to Melve with the location and found Sebastion lying on the ground with the quote,"Who would have thought eating poison mushrooms would put you to sleep". Found the boy passed out on the side of the road north east of Melve in a pack of goblins.

I forgot what I was supposed to give him, gave him some random health pots and other crap. Ended up getting a quest to go find him because he never came back. Found him being attacked by goblins and he died face down in a ditch. Edibles and questing don't mix kids. That orphan kid totally owes me...

                                    • Anonymous

Kind of stupid that the quest has no follow up. Also the reasoning behind abandoning the twin sister is also extraordinarily moronic. Worried about succession rights?! Just make the damn son the successor like is usually done.
