Out of the Forest, Into the Forge is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Out of the Forest, Into the Forge will have you continue to help Doireann with her endeavor to heal the scared Arborheart. Now knowing that Brokkr has the Scalecinders you need, you'll need to try and appease him somewhat with an elven dish for the slightest chance that he'll relent to you taking some of the material. This quest is affected by the passage of time.

Though reviled by its creators, the elven dish nutriabh is apparently a delicacy among dwarves. And so a path to gwyfencha is opened; may your nose survive the trek.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Out of the Forest, Into the Forge Quest Walkthrough

Report Back to Doireann

From what you've learned from Sara, it seems that their forge is indeed capable of producing the Scalecinder that Doireann needs to fix the Arborheart. However, you first need to try and appease the Brokkr to try and get him to look past his prejudice and allow you to take some of the material to help her. Your best shot at this is an elven dish called nutriabh which Sara claims Brokkr seems to like but probably will not admit to it.

Obtain the Ingredients for Nutriabh

Apparently, it's not the elves' favorite dish. However, if the dwarves like it, that's good enough for us. Despite not liking it, Doireann will agree to make this dish if it means having even the slightest chance to heal the Arborheart. She'll ask you to help her by procuring its ingredients. To no surprise, what you need for it are rotten apples and rotten fish.

If you've been keeping an Apple or any of your fish in your pack, you should check them out just in case they've already spoiled. Otherwise, get some in your pack and then rest on a bench for a few days until they get spoiled. You can find apples randomly just outside of the Sacred Arbor, and fish in most bodies of water.

NOTE: If you have to make an apple or fish rot, check if you or any of your Pawns have the Stasis Augment active. If you do, be sure to turn it off or remove that Pawn from your party as it increases the time it takes for food items to get spoiled. In this situation, also make sure to not have a Pawn with the Logistician Specialization in the party, as they may craft your apples and fishes with other ingredients while you're trying to wait for them to rot.

Deliver the Ingredients to Doireann

When you're ready with them, head back to Doireann and give them to her. Afterward, you'll automatically get transported with her outside and you'll see her trying her best to not belch out whatever she had for breakfast trying to make this horrendous dish. After she finishes the concoction, she'll give you a Ferrystone so that you might use it to go to Brokkr's Smithy posthaste.

Follow Doireann

It's your choice whether to use the Ferrystone or not. Doireann will follow you wherever you go so you can also just save it and get to Bakbattahl on foot or by Oxcart. Whichever you choose, head to to Brokkr's Smithy with her and speak to Sara. The two will get acquainted and you'll deliver the nutriabh to the apprentice.

Follow Sara

A lot of following for this quest. This time you'll have to follow the running Sara to the outskirts of Bakbattahl. Once you're outside the village, you'll be making a sharp right turn up the hill before the bridge to get to the Stragglers' Cave. Inside you'll find Brokkr who'll be initially mad at his apprentice for bringing an elf to him. Sara will interrupt his outburst and Doireann will get the chance to give him the dish she prepared.

Gather Plenty of Scalecinder

Sara will interrupt his outburst and Doireann will get the chance to give him the dish she prepared. He'll appear to still not be for the idea and claim to take the dish to throw it away. In the meantime, you'll take the chance to enter the cave and get as many Scalecinders as you can. You'll see them as green powder lying about. You can take the time and loot the whole cavern if you want to. Don't forget to break any breakable objects you find to get any Scalecinders that might be hiding under them. When you're done, head back toward the cave exit and tell Sara that you're finished. You can give as many of the Scalecinders as you want to Doireann and she'll thank you, Sara, and even Brokkr before heading back to the Sacred Arbor to commence healing the sacred tree. This completes the quest.

Out of the Forest, Into the Forge Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2

You exchanged a dish of nutriabh for the gwyfencha needed to nourish the Arborheart, and now her boughs are full of new life. Sharing in the great tree's joy is Doireann, who seems to have thoroughly enjoyed her first sojourn out of the arbor.

Pawns with Logistician Specialization are a pain in the @ss. So its best not to have them in your party at all. Not only can they ruin this quest, but also other quests like the ripen quince.

every time I take an oxcart to Battahl, I'm 10 feet away from the Dwarf and the quest changes to saying "Sarah is preoccupied and you need to help her" then i look and she's all the way ****ing below the map. this **** is so ridiculous and broken.

DO NOT upon completing the quest prior to this, activate the red beam in Bakbattahl, it will pass time (for some ungodly reason) and cause the quest to just vanish from your quest log. Just B-line the questline till it's done

WARNING! Don't have a pawn with the Logistician specialist in your party when waiting for the apples to rot. They just grab them as soon as they do, and make dried fruit for you. Took me an hour of wasted time to realise where they were vanishing off to.

Where are ya'll getting the rotten apples and fish? She says you don't have to go far to get them but I have no idea

              • Anonymous

This whole quest chain seems designed to drain your Ferrystone supplies in a hurry. Elven Village to Bakbattahl over and over again is brutal

She gave a ferry stone at end of the soup quest; use ferry stone while she’s following you for sure; that’s a horrible trek to escort

                  • Anonymous

This quest is bullshit, For some reason you have to escort Doireann to deliver the soup, But every time I'm taking the Cart to the city, Some gore harpy snatches her. tosses her off the ****ing cart LOL. Or occasionally a griffin will come and destroy the cart altogether. Going the long way results in her dying as well. Can't even port to the city, actually very frustrating
