Dragon's Dogma 2 The Ornate Box Quest Walkthrough

Find out what's going on

It seems an argument has broken out between a merchant and his customer. The quest The Ornate Box automatically activates upon hearing the commotion. As you approach the shopkeeper, Auriol, he tells you that he recognizes you as the man who helped Flora (If you completed Medicament Predicament). Seeing that you helped Flora procure the Fruit Roborant, he happily tells you he will give you special prices on his wares.

Outcome 1: Buy The Ornate Box for Sven

Purchase the Ornate Box for 800 G, and look for the young man he was arguing with earlier. Track the objective from your Quests tab and you will get an area to look for the young man. You will find him at the bottom of the steps next to Roderick's shop. Sven boldly asks to borrow gold from you as he promises that you will be paid in full. NOTE: After being freed on your first night at Vernworth, you may have encountered Sven running away from a certain guard who will ask you if you have seen a young man. If you lie to the guard, Sven will recognize you during this quest, and may likely affect the rewards later on.

He wants to purchase the Ornate Box from Auriol but he doesn't have the gold on him right now. Give him the Ornate Box you bought from Auriol earlier and then look for him after a few days.

After helping out Sven, return to Vernworth after a few days (at least 2 days) so he can repay you. You will find him sitting next to the Dragon Fountain at the center of Vernworth. Approach him and accept his request to have a conversation. NOTE: You will meet Sven here for the next four days to complete this quest. Each day he will reward you with different items. During the first time you encounter him, accept his request to talk for a while, and he will give you a Jasper for your time. After that, he takes his leave and says that he must hurry before his mother finds him. Then, the following day, look for Sven, again in the same spot, and he will express how grateful he is for extending your help and will give you the Ring of Accrual. After a third visit to the same spot, Sven will reward you with a Ferrystone. Return to the same spot and on the fourth day, he will give you a noble attire which consists of Courtly Breeches and Courtly Tunic. This fourth conversation with Sven will mark The Ornate Box as completed.

Outcome 2: Lend Sven the money so he can buy The Ornate Box

If you give Sven the money to buy the Ornate Box, you will find him after a few days at the same Dragon Fountain at the center of Vernworth. Instead of giving you rewards, he will pay you back a total of 500 G for your troubles and the Courtly Set (if you lied to the guard who was looking for him). It is recommended to buy the Ornate Box for Sven so you can get the most out of this quest.

DD2 The Ornate Box Quest Objectives

  • Find out what's going on.
  • Receive recompense from Sven in a few days
  • Sven made sure to thank you for the generosity you showed him.

The Ornate Box Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2

This Quest has multiple Outcomes. You lent Sven the gold so he could buy the Ornate Box from Auriol:

True to his word, Sven repaid the cost of the ornate box in full.

You bought the Ornate Box for Sven:

It seems that the young man you encountered in the marketplace had been longing for a glimpse of the world outside the palace and the opportunity to achieve something by his own will. It is unsurprising, therefore, that the ornate box you helped him to obtain has come to hold a special significance for your new friend. Though little more than a costly trinket in and of itself, it represents the first step he has taken toward independence of his mother and her plans for him, and lends him no small amount of courage as he prepares to take his own destiny in hand.

--- can confirm this works but its very tricky as you cannot be in "hostile mode". his room is guarded at day time, i spammed smoke screen as a thief, got in picked him up and ran which made meant i had no aggro, they saw nothing.
brought him to the shop- talked to him immediately after the scene and got the quest.. i am wondering if he will come to the square though for the gifts - will update soon.

This quest will not trigger if you have already completed Disa’s Plot, since you will have discovered Sven’s true identity.

        • I think the rewards are either tied to affinity, or differ depending on whether you buy the box or loan him the money. I had to carry Sven from the palace to the shop, which I'm assuming set my affinity with him way back. My rewards were 200G, 300G, and then 500G the third day. No ferrystone:(

You should visit Sven at the fountain every morning after giving him the box as he will give a reward for each chat.

            Day 1: Jasper
            Day 2: Ring of Acrual
            Day 3 Ferrystone

            Competed quest rewards: Courtly Breeches
            Courtly Tunic

You can **** up this quest if you buy the ornate box before the disscussion between the boy and the merchant take place.
