The Importance of Aiding Ernesto is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). The Importance of Aiding Ernesto is not affected by the passage of time and is one of the 5 evacuation quests that are part of the main quest: Halls of the First Dawn. After finding out that the end of the world is nigh, you’ll travel to major locations and cities including Volcanic Island Camp to convince their leader, Ernesto to evacuate the people. You will be tasked to aid in the evacuation plan to make sure it goes smoothly.

 

Not even the impending calamity can dissuade Ernesto from fulfilling his duty. Charged with the defense of Volcanic Island and its people, he strives to save every life he can.

Aid in the evacuation of Volcanic Island

After explaining the events to Ernesto, he will agree with the evacuation plans but he will first ask you to convince the couple living at Windwalker’s Home. If you have completed Put a Spring in Thy Step, then you already met Gautstafr and his wife Cliodhna

You will find their home in a secluded area, where they live far away from the others. Head to their location quickly and eliminate all enemies along the way. NOTE: Doing this will make the next part of the quest easier because you need to escort the couple back to the camp. Gautstafr has an ailing back and you may have to carry him to speed things up. Once you reach their home, Cliodhna will resist at first, in fear of being judged by the others. However, Gautstafr will reason with her and they will eventually accept your offer.

If the Arisen is capable, grab Gautstafr so you can hurry back to the camp. Just make sure that there are no enemies nearby so nothing can harm them. Once you return to the camp, look for Ernesto again and within the marked location. You will find him at the foot of the scaffolding where he is seen having a conversation with Lamond. It appears that Lamond refuses to join the evacuation and Ernesto will ask for your assistance to convince him to join everyone.

You will find him making his way to the Geyser Hamlet. You can go here by taking the wooden ladder to catch up to him. Talk to Lamond and choose any of the dialogue options. There’s only one outcome for The Importance of Aiding Ernesto, but abandoning Lamond may trigger a different response from Ernesto.

NOTE: The next interaction with Lamond requires high/max affinity which you can do by completing his personal quest: The Sotted Sage or giving gifts that he likes. Choose “Request guard for smith and wife”, and he will not be able to refuse you. So he will agree and join the evacuation plan. Speak with Ernesto at once and doing so will complete The Importance of Aiding Ernesto.

      I didn't evacuate the volcanic island, didn't even I could, it got destroyed but Dwarf, Elf, and Lamond are all safe back at the seafloor, idk wtf that's all about, but i ain't complaining
