Shepherd of the Pawns is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Shepherd of the Pawns is not affected by the passage of time and is one of the 5 evacuation quests that are part of the main quest: Halls of the First Dawn. After finding out that the end of the world is nigh, you'll travel to locations including Excavation Site, to inform them about the state of the world. Look for the Diminished Godsway hidden inside the site to aid the pawns so no one gets left behind.

 

Unaffected by the prejudices of his homeland, the Battahli soldier Henrique refuses to abandon the pawns of the Agamen Ruins. Yet though his cause is noble, time is not his ally.

 

How to Unlock Shepherd of the Pawns Quest in Dragon's Dogma 2

After starting Halls of the First Dawn, travel to the Excavation Site and help Henrique defeat the stone construct. Speak to him afterward to begin the quest. See Shepherd of the Pawns on the [Dragon's Dogma 2 Map].

 

Dragon's Dogma 2 Shepherd of the Pawns Quest Notes & Tips

  • This quest does not unlock any other quest
  • This quest does not have multiple outcomes
  • This quest happens simultaneously with Halls of the First Dawn, but you need to start the said quest first and speak with Henrique to start Shepherd of the Pawns.
  • Alternate Ending: Hire all the pawns and escort them to the nearby Riftstone. Once you're close to the Riftstone, they will all thank you and automatically dismiss themselves. This alternative will take a few trips, but after dismissing all of them, Henrique will give you props and the same reward.
  • This quest is canceled if you don't pick it up before ??

Aid in the Pawns’ Escape

Upon entering the site, you will see that that it's currently under attack by a stone construct. Help Henrique get rid of it and talk to him afterward. Make sure to pick up the items that the monster will drop, like Magick Medal and Electrum.

Henrique will thank you for helping him defeat the stone construct and he fears that the place will not last long. He will agree to join you in the evacuation plan but a few things need to be settled first. He wants you to follow him so he can show you what’s going on. Henrique will lead the way and all you need to do is follow him. Once you get to the destination, you will find troubled pawns. Henrique feels that they shouldn’t be left behind and he asks you to do something about it.

Talk to the Pawns in the area and you will find out that they received orders over a month ago that ordered them to remain. Upon hearing this, Henrique informs you that some of the pawns could still be under the influence of the former overseer’s godsway which prevents them from leaving. Then, he will give you the Overseers' Lodge Key, which opens any door within the camp.

Your objective is to look for the godsway that is currently hidden inside one of the lodges in the Excavation Site. You will find this item inside the lodge behind the inn. Use the Overseer’s Lodge Key to enter the house and pick up the Diminished Godsway. Then, report your findings to Henrique and he will tell you that he can guide the pawns to safety. Doing this will mark Shepherd of the Pawns as completed.

Alternate Ending: Hire all the pawns and escort them to the nearby Riftstone. Once you're close to the Riftstone, they will all thank you and automatically dismiss themselves. This alternative will take a few trips, but after dismissing all of them, Henrique will give you props and the same reward.

      Anyone know how to revive Henrique? He is just died when I arrived at Excavation Site. When I defeated Golem, his body was nowhere to be found.

        I had to drag his ass into the goal else he wouldn't progress the quest. Dude got stuck on the bridge telling me to follow him.

          Henrique is nowhere to be seen after defeating the rock monster :( only person in the site is the vender lady

            There's an alternative (and probably more ethical) way to finish this quest, and it's by simply hiring all the pawns and escorting them to the nearby Riftstone (once you're close to the Riftstone, they'll thank you and automatically dismiss themselves). It'll take a few trips, but once you've dismissed them all in this fashion, Henrique will give you props and the same reward, except this time you're not handing a powerful tool of subjugation to a rando guard.
