Dragon's Dogma 2 Crossing in Shadow Quest Walkthrough

Escort Nadinia Without Exposing her Identity

This quest starts when you are visited by Vera in your home in Vernworth at nighttime. This can only happen if you've completed the quest, A Candle in the Storm, and if you have a home to visit in the first place. She'll ask you to meet with Nadinia outside on the cover of the night. Agree to it to start the quest. If you've fulfilled the conditions but find that Vera hasn't paid you a visit, simply keep resting until nighttime until it happens.

It seems that the Beastren Empress needs help to stealthily make it to the Rose Chateau Bordelrie. You'll simply have to follow her and Vera to the building as you come across different events in the city. Your Pawns won't come with so that you can travel in a smaller group and ensure that no one suspects you. Throughout this escort task, you'll encounter different Beastren needing aid in different ways. Depending on how you choose to help them, you might take too long and fail to bring your charges to the bordelrie before the morning comes, and they'll lose the cover of night.

Outcome 1: Arrived on Time

Eventually, you'll pass by Philbert's Sundries, where you'll see a Beastren being for medicine for his ailing wife. Philbert will not part with the medicine, especially not for some Beastren, showing the empress the dire straits of her kind in VernworthNadinia will want to help him but with circumstances as they are, you'll have to do it yourself. If you speak to Philbert, choose to give him gold for the medicine so you can then give it to Dommel. This will render your pockets 1000 G lighter.

Continue following your charges and you'll eventually make it to the Noble Quarter. Inside, you'll come across a Beastren thief who'll ask your group for help. He'll express that the only way for their kind to survive in the city is by getting their hands dirty. Unfortunately, you'll have to refuse to help him if you're to make it to your destination in time. He'll get caught by the guard that was chasing him, and Nadinia will have some words about her kind's situation.

Eventually, you'll make it to the bordelrie, and the Empress will ask you to wait while she handles whatever she came here for. Time will automatically pass, and the Empress will be finished with her little meeting. She'll tell you that she has secured aid from the people of the Rose Chateau for her endeavor to help her kind's quality of living inside Vernworth. Vera will further explain that dealings between the two nations would cause trouble, so Nadinia has to keep her efforts hidden in the shadows.

You'll then speak with them near the statue of the Arisen, where you'll learn that the founder of Vermund was actually a Beastren himself. However, the past wars between the two nations have deeply mired their relationship. Nonetheless, after seeing how her kind has been forced to live here in the city, she's resolved more than ever to inch closer to the day that all would be able to live together in peace.

Outcome 1: Unable to Arrive on Time

If you choose to threaten Philbert, or agree to help the thief Fiachra, the situation will escalate to an altercation with the guards, which will cause you to be thrown in the gaol. This will make time too much time pass and have you be unable to fully escort the Empress to the bordelrie before the sun shines. You'll still complete the quest, and the Empress will still have renewed resolve to better the situation of her people.

The Walkthrough for this outcome is a work in progress. If the details are available, please feel free to add them here.

This has to be stupidest ****ing side quest in the game, literally walk from your house to the palace and if you miss the dialogue it just fails and you end up in jail?? Why capcom??

      • Anonymous

I was doing the Wilhelmina quest, when she tells you to come to her at night.

Well, I rest in my house and Nadinia shows up with Vera. Wtf!

After getting the medicine by bribing, Vera gets stuck against a wall and because I was worried about Wilhelmina, I picked Vera up and walked both of them as fast as I could.

I had no idea there was a thief, and I encountered several soldiers, but nothing happened

well, looks like the bug is fixed by now.

But, has anyone thought about WHO is actually the person that is meeting the Beastern empress? My own assumption actually lies in one of the "spicy" side quests in the game. You prbly can tell who it is.

I think this is the worst desiged quest in the game. Like everyone else in the comments I got caught by a random guard without ever seeing the thief.
Why did the empress even come to Vermund in her regular attire if she knew everyone would recognize her? It would make more sense for me to find her a Hood or Nonentity or some other mask for her to travel around safely. Seriously, what an absolute blunder this quest was.

This is how I completed the quest.

So, I got frustrated with this quest glitching. After paying the 1k gold for the medicine, I just ran as fast as I could to the Rose Chateau. The empress stopped following me at some point right before the location where the thief should be showing up. I ran back to the empress, picked her up and the thief scene did not trigger. I took her inside the Rose Chateau. Still didn't complete the quest, so I got pissed and started swinging my weapon (did not kill anyone) which triggered the people inside of the Rose Chateau to attack me which made the empress get scared and run outside. I followed her outside and she thanked me for escorting her safely. GG.

I was encountering the bug where the thief did not talk to me and the guard sends you to gaol for no reason. I was able to fix it. What i noticed was when i walked through that road where the thief is supposed to appear , i saw a shadow run in the right hand side bushes but it disappears and suddenly you are greeted by the guard out of nowhere.
What i did was i did not try to run through that particular road, when i reached the fountain part( Where a noble gave you rumor about some guy after Gregor's wife) i tried to walk as slowly as possible behind Nadinia on that road keeping close watch at the bushes, i saw him run to and fro in the bushes actually, and he did not disappear this time. He came talking to me and quest finally progressed.
Idk if it'll work for any of you guys but i thought of posting it just in case. So try walking as slowly as possible on that road behind nadinia.

I had a contrary bug to many of the others here; instead of not seeing the thief, I never had the encounter with the merchant. The two of them stopped at a staircase near the smithy and then took off running after a while.

I didn't see a reward for the "failed to arrive" version of this quest, though I was looking at the "Quest Complete" message and may have missed noticing it.

Unless one counts another copy of the prison rags tunic / shorts set. ~ sigh ~

**** this quest. I wanted to sleep in my house, and this thing interrupts me, then when I do go to sleep, boom, you're arrested and locked up. Makes me want to get my pawn infected and nuke the whole ****ing city.

                      • Anonymous

I was able to complete it by first giving money to the merchant and later refusing to help the thief. At some point Vera was very insistent on finding a path through a solid stone wall (without success, obviously), so a gentle push and running around fixed this for me. The quest gives 20k gold and 4k exp.

What a **** quest, and the wiki not even knowing what the reward is confirms barely anyone can even get it done right. I killed that shopkeep for pulling the crap he did, not like I need a potion seller by this point.

                          • Anonymous

Dogshit quest, thief never appeared for me and the guard just threw me in jail without any chance to bribe/threaten/fight back. The whole gaol system in this game is the dumbest ****.

                            • Anonymous

Geez this quest is buggy. I never even had the thief show up for me, the guard just approached me, said something about a thief (who again, I never met or saw) and then threw me in jail because apparently I looked suspicious? What a load of ****.

                              • Anonymous

This quest is bugged. Nadinia and her escort stops moving after you talk to the thief leading you to not be able to complete the quest.

                                • Anonymous

Threatening the storekeep results in him calling for a guard, and getting arrested immediately, without any chance to do anything, which fails the quest.

                                  Amazing quest design.
