Wandering Roots is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). Wandering Roots is not affected by the passage of time and is one of the 5 evacuation quests that are part of the main quest: Halls of the First Dawn. During this quest, you will travel to Sacred Arbor to inform them about the state of the world. Glyndwr will advise you to speak with his father, Taliesin to get his approval. Assist the elves in ensuring their tradition will carry on so they can begin their evacuation plan.
Calamity comes for all, even the elves of the Sacred Arbor. Though the seafloor shrine offers a chance for survival, this proud people remains rooted by their ancient code.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Wandering Roots Quest Walkthrough
Aid in the Evacuation of the Sacred Arbor
NOTE: Speaking to the Elves requires a translator. You need to have a pawn who can speak and understand the elven language. Go to a nearby Riftstone and check their specializations. Hire someone who has the Woodland Wordsmith Specialization.
After speaking to Glyndwr at the Sacred Arbor’s entrance about the evacuation, he will take you to his father, Taliesin, who is the leader of the elves. His father is a headstrong man and agrees to leave Sacred Arbor on one condition, he wants proof that a piece of their age-old tradition, the Arborheart, can take root at the Seafloor Shrine. After this encounter, he will give you the Arborheart Cutting.
You are tasked to head to the Seafloor Shrine and go to the marked location. You can use the Ferrystone to fast travel. When you get there, interact with the plot of soil to plant the Arborheart Cutting. After doing so, head back to report your results to Taliesin.
Alternitively, if you did not finish Ailing the Arborheart quest, you can pick up the leader of the elves and ferrystone him to seashore shrine. Once there speak to him a few times and he will concede and the quest will be marked as complete.
Report back to Taliesin
After witnessing the Arborheart Cutting take root, return to Sacred Arbor to speak with Taliesin. You will find him at the same spot and once he learns that you are successful, he will agree with the evacuation plans, and the end of this conversation will mark Wandering Roots as completed.

Wandering Roots Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2
You convinced Taliesin to guide his people to the Seafloor Shrine:
Tis a heavy thing, laying down a tradition long held— heavier still to carry it to a new location. Yet having resolved to brave both of these difficulties with your aid, Arborist Taliesin set out to guide his people down a path untrodden, in the hope that they might live to someday return to their ancestral homeland.
You convinced Taliesin to guide his people to the Seafloor Shrine - Wandering Roots Rewards:

If anyone didn't do the elven quests just talk to him 3 times, make sure to sleep each time you talk and it will trigger him to leave. :)

*Plops plant down on top of the most uninhabitable looking soil next to a wall that will block a decent amount of sunlight.*

I threw Glindwr off a cliff because I didn't want him to be my beloved in the Dragon cutscene. I had already done all the Arbor quests by endgame. When it came time to evacuate, all I had to do was talk to the leader twice - Glyndwr was still nowhere to be found, and this quest was skipped entirely. I am uncertain whether this has any effects other than saving time.

I had done the initial set of quests, namely helping Glyndwr pass their test and save their sister. I started the quest to heal the tree, but never completed it. When I got to this quest, I spoke to Glyndwr, who took me to Taliensin. I spoke to Taliensin and he refused to evacuate. I spoke to Taliensin a few more times and his dialog changed once or twice, but still did not result in the quest being completed.
After having hit a roadblock on the dialog, I tried resting at an inn several times and coming back after several days, which also resulted in nothing happening. I then left the area, and proceeded to evacuate the remaining villages.
After finishing all of the evacuations except the elf village, I came back and talked to Taliesin again, who still did not agree to evacuate. I then decided to get an elf translator pawn, and came back to talk to Taliesin, who then finally agreed to evacuate. I'm not sure why having an elf translator pawn fixed it (as Glyndwr was there translating for me) but that might be the fix.
Hopefully if anyone else had this issue, the above can help reproduce success on the quest.

if you never interacted with the elves you can get them to evacuate by talking to the leader 3 times

Don't evacuate battalh before the elves if you haven't done the elf quests, it stops them from evacuating entirely

If you are trying to speak to Taliesin to skip/complete the quest via the three days of dialog because you are locked out of starting 'The Ailing Arborheart' quest prerequisite, than, you need to have a Woodland Wordsmith pawn to complete this evacualtion quest. Glyndwr translating is not enough to progress his dialog to the stage of giving up and finaly evacuating.
