After learning about Beren's dismissal, you will see the Cyclops who previously attacked the recruits returning as it chases Randall. Dragon's Dogma 2 Beren's Final Lesson Quest Walkthrough
Intercept the Cyclops
Once you have completed Claw Them Into Shape, visit Beren at Moonglow Garden after a day has passed. You will find this area southwest of the Borderwatch Outpost. He will return here after the officers decide on his dismissal because of the attack on the recruits. While you are speaking with Beren, Randall comes down running from the hill while the Cyclops is chasing him.
Defeat the monster and speak with Beren afterward. NOTE: In some situations, you have to wait another day before speaking with Beren. Sleep at the nearby campsite and spend the night there and look for him the next morning. Be sure to talk to him before he leaves or you will fail to get the rewards.
While talking to Beren, he tells you his plan to continue training soldiers at Battahl. He will give you his greatsword called Lifetaker and leave the area. After receiving the rewards, the quest is still in progress and he will move to a different location. Follow him to Beren's Childhood Home, located south of Checkpoint Rest Town.
Beren's Childhood Home in Battahl
There are a few ways to get to this location. At first, this area is locked out until you progress the main quest, where they will allow you to cross the border into Battahl. Alternatively, you can smuggle yourself across the border by jumping into one of the Oxcarts that cross to Battahl, or go around a long way through the river under Checkpoint Rest Town, go through the Guerco Cavern, and walk back to Beren's Childhood Home.
NOTE: The alternate routes will likely be dangerous as you try to speed up your progression here. It is recommended to do Main Quests and let the game flow naturally to reach him at the Battahl region. Some quests may be initiated as you enter the second region, which may likely affect the outcomes of those quests if left unattended.
Once you make it to Beren's next location, he will give you the Warrior skill, Champion's Fable, and that encounter will mark Beren's Final Lesson as completed. There are some instances when Beren will not give the scroll during this interaction. When this happens, exhaust his dialogue until the part he says that he's going to Checkpoint Rest Town. Travel to the gate and walk past south Zeplin's Inn, and you will run into Beren in a house on the left. He will give the Warrior Skill there.
Outcome 2: You failed to save the recruit
The Walkthrough for this outcome is a work in progress. If the details are available, please feel free to add them here.

When I came to his childhood home, he offered me tea and gave me flowers, and that was it. After he disappeared altogether and I decided to return to the border outpost, I do not know what he could do there at all, as a result, I gave him a bouquet of flowers on the spot and he gave me this damn scroll.

For those of you who didn't get the fable after the quest here is what you do. Exhaust his dialogue and when he leaves he mentions going to checkpoint rest town. Get through the gate and travel slightly south past the Zeplin's inn, and you will run into Beren in a house on the left. He will give it to you there.

Would be great if Capcom provided an alternative way to obtain the Arc of Might if you get the "Beren Left Without Saying Farewell" ending. So frustrating.

I didn't get the Champions Fable upon completion of the quest
Fought the cyclops, went to the nearby camp until the next morning, came back and it completed the quest. Assuming my affinity wasn't high enough yet, followed him to his childhood home and did an escourt mission near Trickster shrine, afterwhich he was blushing. Ran back to his childhood home, he wasn't there. Oxcart to Vernworth then oxcart to Melve, ran up to the Borderwatch Outpost and found him just inside the gate and he handed me the scroll. So from what I gather you just need to raise his affinity to the point of blushing to get the Champion's Fable.
