The Regentkin's Resolve is a Quest for Dragon's Dogma 2 (DD2). The Regentkin's Resolve is not affected by the passage of time and is one of the 5 evacuation quests that are part of the main quest: Halls of the First Dawn. After finding out that the end of the world is nigh, you'll travel to cities including Vernworth, and convince their leaders to evacuate the people. Hurry to resolve conflicts so the townspeople can leave safely.

Sven seeks to orchestrate a full-scale evacuation of the citizenry, and you have pledged to lend him your aid.

Dragon's Dogma 2 The Regentkin's Resolve Quest Walkthrough

Aid in the evacuation of Vermund

To begin The Regentkin's Resolve, you first need to start Halls of the First Dawn. After that, head to Vernworth and look for Brant at his usual spot at The Stardrop Inn. He will encourage you to speak with Sven about the city's evacuation plans. He believes that if there's anyone the people will listen to, it's him. You will find Sven in his chambers on the second floor of Vernworth Castle.

Sven gives you two tasks: finding a way to reason with his mother and procuring oxcarts. First, you want to deal with Queen Disa. Her room is just at the other end of the hallway so it's accessible. You can just ignore the warnings from Queen Disa's servants who will try to stop you at her door. There are 3 ways that you can handle this:

  • Carry Queen Disa to Sven's Chambers
  • Retrieve The Ornate Box from the desk inside Disa's Chambers and take it to Sven (he will read the letter from his mother and he will go to her room at once)
  • Kill Queen Disa

NOTE: There is only one outcome for this quest, however, if you resort to violence and kill some of the NPCs, this may result in a different reaction from Sven.

Reconcile Sven and his mother

We recommend doing either of the first two, especially if the Arisen is capable of carrying the Queen, otherwise, take The Ornate Box from Disa's Chambers and bring it to Sven. Doing this will reveal a letter addressed to Sven. The letter reads:

"My darling Sven, I pray you will forgive your mother's selfishness. Know that all I did, I did for your sake, and for the betterment of this kingdom. How could anyone believe that the Arisen, a personage of character and origins unknown, was more fit to rule than you? The custom of Sovran rule is a relic of an age best forgotten. Allowing the whims of fate to guide us has only produced such callous rulers as the Mad Sovran, who slaughtered his subjects by the dozen. You, my son, are a kind soul. You would have made a good ruler, a worthy ruler, someone the people could look up to. The future I sought for this kingdom was one where you should be allowed to claim the throne in place of fate's chosen, and become a ruler beloved by his people, one who felt for them just as deeply in turn. Alas, with these ominous changes to the world, what future is left to us now? Rulers hold little meaning in a land bereft of order. And so all that remains is for me to meet my end in solitude, ere you too come to look upon me in horror, beholding a monster where you once saw a mother."

Procure the Oxcarts

After reconciling Sven and his mother, you can now turn your attention to procuring the oxcarts so the people of Vernworth can leave safely. Head over to the marker found on the west gate of Vernworth where Allard and the others are on standby. He won't give up his oxcarts immediately, so you need to use a little force. There's no need to get lethal here- all you need to do is grab him, pin him to the ground, and release him after a few seconds. Doing this is enough to scare him away and he will leave the oxcarts to you. (NOTE: If you have previously completed Every Rose Has Its Thorn, you can skip this step entirely.)

Once you have acquired the oxcarts, speak with the merchant, Russell who is in the same location. Speak to him and get the confirmation that you are free to use the oxcarts. He tells you that he doesn't mind since he got paid already, and in fact, he is relieved that you got rid of Allard. After this, return to Sven to report your progress and to complete The Regentkin's Resolve.

The Regentkin's Resolve Quest Rewards in Dragon's Dogma 2

Vernworth is fully prepared to see its citizens to safety:

Some find their strength fastest in a crisis, and the people of Vernworth should count themselves fortunate that the regentkin has proven to be such a one; but perhaps all Sven really needed to flourish was a chance to step out from under his mother's shadow.

For the queen what I did is I took the Ornate box and carried the queen to Svens room. Sven thanks you for bringing his mother to him then it gives you the option to show him the Ornate box. Showing him the Ornate box he reads the letter inside and realizes his mothers true feelings. Sven begins to talk to his mother and wants to make up with her because he did not realize that what she did was for the benefit of all Vermund. Logically it wouldn't make sense that a random person chosen by fate has the ability to become a true king in the first place hence why Svens mother the queen did what she did. Honestly we could've just worked together if we properly talked, but there could have been other reasons like during those few months of memory loss the Arisen made choices of his own without our knowledge. It wasn't until he lost his memory we were able to control our Arisen making his choices.

I didn't complete the ornate box quest, so it wasn't in disa's room. I didn't touch disa and only delt with the carts, but the quest still was completed and i got the promt about evacuating venworth.

Kill Disa, pick her up and throw her at Sven if you dont have the box option.
Im not joking, this resolves the quest with unique dialogue.
          Youre welcome

If you didnt do the ornate box quest and therefore dont have a box in the room - you can kill Disa, then pick up Disa and throw her at the Regentkin - this will trigger a unique dialogue and will successfully (regentkin evacuates) finish the quest! Im not joking this actually works and has unique dialogue. I wakestoned Disa afterwards but it didnt seem to change anything.
