Fighter is a Basic Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2. The Fighter is both a defensive and offensive unit, able to deal damage with a sword while protecting with a shield. Vocations are the many character classes the player can choose from. The Vocation you choose for the Arisen or your Pawns dictates what Weapons and Skills they are able to use, as well as how their stats increase per level up. Some Vocations are only able to be used by the Arisen.

The Fighter vocation excels in melee combat, deftly wielding a sword and shield. Fighters can slice through enemy ranks and deliver powerful blows, while also using shields to protect themselves and their allies.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Fighter Guide: How to Play

Fighters wield a sword and shield, and excel at battle in close quarters. Their balanced approach to combat sees them alternate between charging the enemy line from the vanguard and hurtling to the defense of their comrades, all while deflecting blows with their shield and delivering swift slashes with their sword. Press the class action button to guard against enemy attacks. Stamina recovers slowly while guarding, and some stamina is consumed when an attack connects with the shield, so you must try to conserve your strength.

A carefully timed block will deflect your opponent's attack, but bear in mind that you cannot block grab attacks or blows from behind. When you land an attack using the heavy attack button, it will change to a powerful successive strike if: 1) the target is downed or knocked off balance, or 2) the target is not expecting the attack. Powerful successive strikes should be carefully aimed, as they leave you vulnerable.

Fighters are a moderately difficult class capable of blocking and parrying attacks, and staggering or knocking down foes when played properly. Fighter is generally played as a tank while dealing moderate damage. They have great mobility due to the skill Blink Strike which allows them to speed around the battlefield engaging foes. Although there are augments and rings that can draw the attention of your enemies, you may want to employ Shield Summons in the early game to keep your enemies attention focused on you.

The utility skill Springboard allows you to boost allies into the air, potentially speeding up the process of climbing a large enemy. It can also be used to boost up to high ledges while exploring for the purpose of gathering treasure that is just out of reach. The most difficult and powerful aspect of playing a fighter is the ability to parry an enemy attack, which negates all incoming damage, staggers the enemy, and deals damage. Unlocking the core skill True Deflect allows you to parry by pressing the class action button just before an enemy attack hits you.

Where to Find the Fighter Maister in Dragon's Dogma 2

Lennart is the Maister NPC players must interact with to acquire the Soldier's Code. Using the scroll unlocks the Riotous Fury Fighter Skill for yourself and your main pawn. But to get to that point where you receive the scroll, you must increase his affinity to a sufficiently high level. You can do this by giving him gifts and completing his associated quests. Depending on how many gifts you give him, it may not be necessary to complete all of his quests. Here is a list of actions you can take to unlock the quests that increase his affinity:

  • Progress the main quest "In Dragon's Wake". This is where you'll first meet Lennart in Melve.
  • Progress the game to pick up the side quest "Oxcart Courier" and complete it to unlock "Nesting Troubles"
  • Complete Nesting Troubles.
  • Complete ANY of the main quests from this list: Monster CullingThe Caged Magistrate, or Disa's Plot.
  • Complete any of the main quests mentioned above to meet the requirements of unlocking the next quest.
  • Ride an Oxcart at the North Vernworth Oxcart Station in Vernworth. This will take you back to Melve.
  • The quest that will trigger in Melve is "Readvent of Calamity" in which you'll discover a dragon attacking the town.
  • Fight the dragon until you make it flee from the town.
  • Progress the quest's objective/s which is to check up on the town from time to time after the dragon's attack.
  • Speak to Lennart when you're about to complete the quest to receive the scroll.
  • If he doesn't give you the scroll at this time, give him a gift each day until he does.

DD2 Fighter Stat Growth

Stats in Dragon's Dogma 2 grow in two ways - temporary Stat Adjustments from choosing and adopting a Vocation, and increases that happen per level, modified by Vocation Stat Multipliers. Stat Adjustments happen instantly whenever you change into a Vocation. This means that if you chose the Fighter as your Basic Vocation during Character Creation, you'll likely already have these Stat Adjustments already applied to your Stats. Vocation Stat Multipliers are relevant whenever your character levels up.

Fighter Stat Adjustments in Dragon's Dogma 2

As aforementioned, Stat Adjustments will immediately and automatically apply whenever you switch Vocations. These temporary Stat changes will reflect the Vocation's play style and will benefit the Stats that are advantageous for it. In contrast, some Stats may reduced to balance out the Vocation's stats. When you switch to a different Vocation, these adjustments will be taken away, and then the Stat Adjustments for the newer Vocation will be conferred accordingly. Switching to the Fighter Vocation will confer the following Stat Adjustments:

Fighter Stat Multipliers in Dragon's Dogma 2

Whenever a character levels up, they are granted base Stat increases which are determined per level. These base Stat increases are then modified by Vocation Stat Multipliers which can be different per Stat and are different per Vocation. Like Stat Adjustments, these multipliers will reflect the Vocation's playstyles and lean towards the Stats that are advantageous to it. After the multiplier is applied to the base stat increase for each Stat, they are then rounded down before being permanently granted to your character. The Fighter has the following Stat Multipliers:

Knockdown Power, Knockdown Res, and Weight do not have multipliers. Knockdown Res doesn't grow at all, and Weight will stop growing after level 40. Knockdown Power will also stop growing after level 81. Past level 200, every Stat aside from Health will grow by 1 point with each level (before Vocation modifiers).

Desperately needs some stats buffs because man, this class feels weak in this game.
In DD1 Fighter was the i-frames class but they took it away from it here in DD2, damage wise any other physical vocation will easily outclass it and in terms of defences and survivability it sucks simply because it has almost no movement whatsoever, there's objectively no reason to pick fighter over Mystic Spearhand or Thief, what a shame.

Something in the Description of how to obtain the Soldiers Code Scroll is not correct, i got the Scroll WAY before i did most of what it says. I did the Nesting Trouble Quest when i first came to Melve, went to the Capital, did NOT meet Brant in the Pub at night, went back to melve with the Oxcart Carrier Quest and gave ulrika a Bunch of Flowers, her affinity was maxed out. Imediately afterwards Lennart aproached me int he street, cheeks Blushing (as if HIS affinity was also somehow maxed out) and gave me the scroll.
I think him giving you the scroll is tied to his affinity for you, and maybe your Fighter Vocation level, rather then any actuall Quest completion

idk copared to the other starter classes this feels weak and borderline useless. i was really excited to play fighter but its not performing at all. my friend picked thief and i saw him melt a boss in 2 minutes while it took me ages. he wasn't even playing the game, he just did the fire daggers and spammed a single button and stood in one place for the entire fight while draining 2 health bars. archer gets excellent mobility and range, and mage is what you'd expect. fighter needs a buff. like the only selling point, endurance and tank, is also useless cause monsters still can and will 3 shot you, and since max HP decreases in a fight every time u get hit, that means the fighter gets exponentially more useless in a fight as time goes on. the only fun part about this class is the shield and perfect parry system, and even then wtf are u gonna do when a monster slings 3 spells in a row at you? good luck dipshit, lol. lmao even. oh those spells are alas in conjunction with melee attacks btw.

if you dont do the nesting grounds quest prior to the dragon event, you are permanently locked out of getting the scroll as the quest chain closes

any idea how the fighter can do a dodge roll? I know only the thief seems to have a dash but I've seen the fighter doing a normal dodge roll as well in some footage and since it seems to be not a core skill I'm curious how
