Archer is a Basic Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2. The Archer is a long-ranged fighter that focuses on dealing physical damage with different types of arrows. Vocations are the many character classes the player can choose from. The Vocation you choose for the Arisen or your Pawns dictates what Weapons and Skills they are able to use, as well as how their stats increase per level up. Some Vocations are only able to be used by the Arisen.
The Archer vocation specializes in long-range attacks using a bow and arrow. They perform their attacks from afar and can target enemies in high positions. In addition, they are essential in supporting the frontline. For example, by targeting enemy weaknesses, they can create opportunities for your allies to strike.
Dragon's Dogma 2 Archer Guide: How to Play
The precision of the bow allows archers to strike down foes from a safe distance, and it only takes a few well-aimed arrows to create an opening for their allies at the vanguard to exploit. Experienced archers can add a range of special arrows to their quiver that may inflict debilitations upon their foes.
Press the basic attack button to loose an arrow, which will automatically target a nearby foe. Use the movement controls to aim in a specific direction, and tap the basic attack button to continue to fire at the same enemy. Loose allows for ease of aim, but as its arrows inflict minimal harm and can only travel so far, it is best used in combination with other skills. Press the class action button to use Steady Shot and fire an arrow with deadly precision. Striking a foe's weak point allows you to deal massive damage, and as you can use weapon skills while drawing, you will be able to unleash powerful attacks with greater accuracy.
The Archer is a beginner friendly vocation mainly focusing on long-ranged physical damage, with a minor role in inflicting status debilitations. Interestingly, they are the only vocation capable of inflicting the tarred or drenched debilitation, and only the Thief can also inflict the blighted status with a low-level enchanted weapon. This gives them a unique role as a status inflictor. Keep in mind that using the status effect arrow skills requires you to have a stock of that type of arrow in your inventory. These include Drenching Arrow, Tarring Arrow, Explosive Arrow, and Blighting Arrow. All of these arrows are cheap and easy to craft, with the except of blighting arrow, which is quite expensive. Special mention goes to the Unmaking Arrow, a very rare arrow that can kill anything it hits in one strike. It is only possible to get a few of these in a single playthrough, so use them sparingly.
Mobility and maintaining a safe distance from the enemy is paramount to playing as an archer. If an enemy closes to melee range, you can use Leaping Punt to create distance again. Additionally, some skills, such as Dire Arrow, are effective at staggering or knocking back enemies so you can selectively employ these to prevent advancing enemies from reaching you.

DD2 Archer Stat Growth
Stats in Dragon's Dogma 2 grow in two ways - temporary Stat Adjustments from choosing and adopting a Vocation, and increases that happen per level, modified by Vocation Stat Multipliers. Stat Adjustments happen instantly whenever you change into a Vocation. This means that if you chose the Archer as your Basic Vocation during Character Creation, you'll likely already have these Stat Adjustments already applied to your Stats. Vocation Stat Multipliers are relevant whenever your character levels up.
Archer Stat Adjustments in Dragon's Dogma 2
As aforementioned, Stat Adjustments will immediately and automatically apply whenever you switch Vocations. These temporary Stat changes will reflect the Vocation's play style and will benefit the Stats that are advantageous for it. In contrast, some Stats may reduced to balance out the Vocation's stats. When you switch to a different Vocation, these adjustments will be taken away, and then the Stat Adjustments for the newer Vocation will be conferred accordingly. Switching to the Archer Vocation will confer the following Stat Adjustments:
- Health: +0
- Stamina: +50
- Strength: +5
- Defense: +0
- Magick: +0
- Magick Defense: +0
- Knockdown Power: +20
- Knockdown Res: -30
- Weight: +0
Archer Stat Multipliers in Dragon's Dogma 2
Whenever a character levels up, they are granted base Stat increases which are determined per level. These base Stat increases are then modified by Vocation Stat Multipliers which can be different per Stat and are different per Vocation. Like Stat Adjustments, these multipliers will reflect the Vocation's playstyles and lean towards the Stats that are advantageous to it. After the multiplier is applied to the base stat increase for each Stat, they are then rounded down before being permanently granted to your character. The Archer has the following Stat Multipliers:
Knockdown Power, Knockdown Res, and Weight do not have multipliers. Knockdown Res doesn't grow at all, and Weight will stop growing after level 40. Knockdown Power will also stop growing after level 81. Past level 200, every Stat aside from Health will grow by 1 point with each level (before Vocation modifiers).

I'm extremely shocked there's not a comment mentioning poisoning twice for massive damage. I guess people on this site can actually read unlike everyone on reddit.

I see enemy archers performing a slide right under me and shoot me in the back. Do players/pawns get this kind of evasive maneuver?
