How to get Researcher's Robe in Dragon's Dogma 2
Acquired alongside the Researcher's Robe from the NPC Emerich.
Activating the quest "A Veil of Gossamer Clouds" will cause him to be located in the Forbidden Magick Research Lab. He will be overheard talking to another researcher near the Laboratories in relation to a step of that quest. It is advised to complete the rest of this quest to ensure NPC behaviour is advanced correctly.
Once this has occured, the player must have fulfilled, or fulfill, the conditions to purchase Newt Liquer from Higgs. Purchasing 3 Newt Liquer will cause the tavern to be raided by guards, at which point it's best to run away. Advance time to night and Emerich can now be located within the Dye Pits, located near the base of a wall. He can be quite hard to find, as he is still wearing his Researcher's Clothes. You can talk to him, at which point you can buy 5 Saurian Tales from him for 2500 gold.
After this, you can punch him. There is no prompt for this, you will have to unequip your weapon and attack once. This triggers a dialogue where you can demand his clothes. He will give you the Researcher's Robe and Apprentice's Breeches, as well as a Mask of Concealment. He seems to dissapear from this location after this.

Dragon's Dogma 2 Researcher's Robe Enhancements
- If you have the requisite Materials at hand, you can enhance your equipment at any shop equipped with a forge. Consider enhancing your equipment according to your level and fighting style.
- There are several styles of smithing used in enhancement, and each one produces a different result, such as moderate, all-around improvement, or a significant increase to Magick or might. Choose the style that is most compatible with your preferred equipment and approach to combat.
- Players can mix different types of enhancements. For example, players can have a Weapon or a piece of Armor with the first two enhancemtens of a style, and apply a different one for the third one. This adds further versatility and customization to Weapons and Armor.
- Wyrmfire smithing allows players to further improve their equipment past the third level, but does not work like the other four smithing schools. In this case, the benefits given does not add up in the same way, in this case it grants the weapon an x flat in certain stat. It also reduces by half the weight of the item.
- Instead of gold, Wyrmfire upgrades cost Wyrmslife Crystals.
- For example, Peltflayers level 3 Vermundian has 1.24 weight and 134 Strength. and Level 3 Elven has 1.24 kg Weight and 125 Strength. If players apply a wyrmfire upgrade to both of these weapons, the results will be different: Vermundian path Peltflayers final stats will be 189 Strength, while Elven and 180 Strength. So in the case of this weapon, the flat stat increased is +55 in Strength.

The Gossamer Veil NPC isn't involved with this at all; His name isn't even Emerich. Emereich IS the one who can give you the uniform, but he didn't even offer saurian tails for me to buy, when I tried this. I just managed to locate him around midnight, near the slope below Higg's Tavern(What does 'at the base of the wall' even mean?) and once he didn't seem willing to sell me tails, I just punched him once, which put me in the special dialogue where I could demand his clothes.
This entry seems wildly inaccurate, overall.

FYI "A Veil of Gossamer Clouds" is not a requirement to get the event. I'm in NG+, haven't done that quest yet (only done Monster Culling). I got to Higgs tavern, bought 3 newt liquor, survived the arrest, waited until night and I found Emerich by the dye pools. Bought the salamander tails, punched him with barehands once and that lead to the dialogue prompt to take his clothes.

I'm assuming shaking down Emerich for this set is meant to convey a means to "safely traverse" the Forbidden Magick Research Lab while wearing it, similarly to how the Marcher's armor set is meant to allow relatively safe passage through the Vernworth gaol and other locations, though this system is so bugged you likely won't have need of it.
Still, intend to test it.

If anyone is wondering why they dont get the dialogue with Emeric to trigger. Try this steps:
- Complete a Veil of glossamer clouds
- Enter Higgs tavern stand in backbattahl (replace the bags in ground with beastren mask equipped) buy him some liquor and wait INSIDE the tavern till some guards show up trying to arrest Higgs, then flee.
- Wait for the night and attemp to plunder/attack Emeric before even talking to him to buy saurian tails.

Located him at night in the dyed area. Bought 5 saurian tails and then punch him, then the dialogue will come up to get his clothes.

I have tried every single method shared here and none of them worked.
Until someone backs their claim with a video proof, consider all of the 'methods' posted here trolling.

My Emerich fights back after punching him a couple of times. I wonder if they got the wrong npc or if this is a troll page?

Okay guys, here's how you get the entire Researcher set: After you see Emerich talking to his buddy in the lab, just progress until night time. Emerich move to the Dye Stores and sell unlimited 5 stacks of Saurian Tails for 2500. Be a thief or warfarer with Plunder and use it on him once, he'll get scared and then you get the prompt "Your uniform." He'll disappear from the game, but you'll have gained his entire set.

It could be an event but I don’t know how to trigger it I even tested to see if it is in the endgame world and it doesn’t seem to be and no YouTuber has any information on it

I located Emerich, I tried attacking him once, unarmmed punching him multiple times, grabbing him, throwing him, I cannot trigger any "intimidate him with violence" dialogue
- Anonymous
Has anyone tested the method to see if that is the way to get it
- Anonymous
You dont need to buy any liquor, the guards just came in after walking around a little.
