      You can exchange the real paragon staff for a platinum myrmecoleon card outside of the masquerade, but it has time limit, after serveral days the soldier will be fired, also forgeries don't work.

        Is there any point in this item besides getting to be freaky on the third floor or selling it? Does it unlock anything? Can you get special cutscenes? Anything?

          I got my platinum card from a knight outside near the entrance to the masquerade party. He's looking for the paragon staff from when you did the quest "A Noble Exchange." If you give him the real one he will give you the Platinum card, but if you decide to give him the fake he gives you 3k gold. It cost more to create the replica so not really worth it especially if you can steal it.
