More about getting Lennart to finally cough up the Maister tome. I had to finish all the Melve-related storylines and post-Melve storylines. (Don't want to be too specific with spoilers, but let's just say I had to help with all the Harve-related quests, and even "Home is where the hearth is", before I could finally get him to respond to gifts and finally give me the tome. By this time, he was (re)located to the rocky shoreline in Harve village. I gave him Ore every day. Nothing. I gave him monster parts every day--even ones that he seemed to like. Nothing. It wasn't until I finally gave him a Bunch of Flowers that he said "oh, this is tricky". Then he disappeared. Then he reappeared immediately and initiated dialogue with me, finally giving me the maister tome. Good luck!

THE ITEM IS NOT GIVEN FROM COMPLETING THE QUEST! For everyone who's thinking they've been screwed out of the item for not talking to him immediately after the quest, the wiki is incorrect. Lennart gives the item based on his affinity, not completing the Readvent of Calamity quest. Much later on, Lennart has moved to a different town for me, and I read someone mention raising his affinity, so I tested it. Affinity can ONLY BE RAISED ONCE PER DAY, so I gave him a goblin horn which he really liked, slept at an inn, repeated twice, and then he had an escort quest for me. After completing the quest, I talked to him back in the town and he gave me the scroll.

For anyone who doesn't know how to gain affinity, when talking to an NPC, the option to give a gift appears on your controls in the bottom right (Square/X on controller). You also have an NPC guide in your History tab on the pause menu to see what gifts each npc likes. Lennart likes odd items, like some monster drops, that's why a goblin horn works.
