He is the Arisen. If you die in the Unmoored world, The main character (arisen) gets sent back to the village before the the start of the story. You still see his healed scars on the chest. He fought the one who watches so he knew the end of the world but failed and this was his punishment. He gets to watch the world end over and over again.
